The Bible or the TV, you choose…

II Tim 2:15 “Study to show yourself approved to God, a worker
that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Joshua 24:15 “But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites (Americans) in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”

“The Bible or the TV, you choose”
They lie on the table side by side
The Holy Bible and the T.V. remote and Guide.
One is well worn and cherished with pride.
Not the Bible, but the T.V. remote and Guide.
One is used daily to help folks decide.
No, not the Bible, but the T.V. remote and Guide.
As the pages are turned, what shall they see.
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the T.V.
So they open the book in which they confide.
No, not the Bible, but the T.V. remote and Guide.

The Word of God is seldom read.
Maybe a verse before they fall into bed
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be.
Not from reading the Bible, from watching T.V.
So then back to the table side by side,
Lie the Holy Bible and the T.V. Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word,
The plan of Salvation is seldom heard.
But forgiveness of sin, so full and free
Is found in the Bible, not on T.V.

Here is great passage to keep in mind when viewing the TV, your computer, thinking of a movie, listening to radio…..

Philip. 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Dealing with Stress…

Dealing with Stress!

Did you ever have one of those days when you felt the whole world was against you?
Each of us has those times in our lives and how we deal with them determines our peace of mind in this life. The key to understanding them is recognizing that our God cares for us and wants to be our strength in life and provide us with peace that passes worldly understanding.

Yes, even during and especially during those bad days|||||||||||

Psalm 55:22a “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you;…”

Psalm 40:1-3 “I waited patiently for God to help me, then He listened, and
heard my cry…He lifted me…and set my feet on a hard, firm path and steadied me…He has given me a new song to sing.”

I Pet 5:7 “Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.”

And fortunately for us His love is not dependent upon our love for Him.

Rom 5:8 “But God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.”

Have you accepted God’s love?

John 3:3-16Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” …For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

ALLthings work together for good…If God is in your Life…

Rom 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. “

All things work together for good…..if God is in your Life…

God knows where you need to be!

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong and the children
are slow getting dressed and you can’t seem to find the car keys and you hit every
traffic light, don’t get mad or frustrated; praise God instead because God is at work
watching over you.

Listen to this account of why we may need a perspective change.  After Sept. 11 … I happened to call a man on business that I didn’t know and have not, nor will ever, talk to again. But this day, he felt like talking.  He was the head of security of a company that had invited the remaining members of a company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space. With his voice full of awe he told me stories of why these people were
alive and their counterparts were dead…..and all the stories were just ‘little’ things.

As you might know, the head of the company got in late that day
because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was his
turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn’t go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One’s car wouldn’t start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn’t get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn’t get a taxi.
There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered
and put in a book.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of
shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there,
he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to
answer a ringing phone…. all the little things that annoy me …I think to myself,
this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little
things and may you remember their possible purpose

As a ‘born again’ believer we are reminded that;

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them
who love the Lord, to them who are called according to His purposes”

If you are not a ‘born again’ believer check out what Jesus said;

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

And another reminder. Some were in the Towers on that day to be a light
among a dark world to help those needing and wanting last minute help….today
they are with Jesus….

Growth in the Valley of Life…

Rom 8:28 “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord,
to those who are the called according to His purposes.”

Growth in the Valley of Life….

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
it’s then I have to remember
that it’s in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top
and never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God’s love
and would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn
and my growth is very slow,
sometimes I need the mountain tops,
but it’s in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
why things happen as they do,
but I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing
when I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan’s loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
when I’m feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
that it’s in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
and use my life each day
to share your love with others
and help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
the mountain tops are glorious
But it’s in the valleys I grow!

Have a blessed day!

REMEMBER…

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance
between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to the Lord can
by Jesus’ power stand up to anything.

II Cor 12:9 “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

I Thes 5:17, 18 “Pray without ceasing, for this is the will of God
in Christ Jesus, concerning you.”

The Blessing in the Answer of, NO…

Isa 55:8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.”
The Blessing in the answer of “NO”

I asked God to take away my pride.
God said “No”.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said “No”.
Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said “No”.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said “No”.
I give you blessings; happiness and contentment are up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said “No”.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said “No”.
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said “No”.
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said… Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!

What if,
GOD couldn’t take the time to bless us today because we couldn’t take the
time to thank HIM yesterday?

What if,
GOD decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn’t follow HIM today?

What if,
We never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when GOD sent the rain?

What if,
GOD didn’t walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day?

What if,
GOD took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger?

What if,
GOD didn’t send His only begotten Son because He wanted us to be
prepared to pay the price for sin?

What if,
The door of the church was closed because we did not open the door of our heart?

What if,
GOD stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care for others?

What if,
GOD would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him yesterday?

What if,
GOD answered our prayers the way we answer His call to service?

What if,
GOD met our needs the way we give Him our lives???

What if, we fail to understand the meaning of this message?
Philip. 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

That’s my Child…

Mat 11:28, 29 “Come unto Me all you labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me;
for I am meek and lowly of heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.”

That’s my Child

I was watching some little kids play soccer.  These
kids were only five or six years old, but they were
playing a real game — a serious game. Two teams,
complete with coaches, uniforms, and parents.  I didn’t
know any of them, so I was able to enjoy the game without
the distraction of being anxious about winning or losing.
I wished the parents and coaches could have done the same.

The teams were pretty evenly matched.  I will just
call them Team One and Team Two.  Nobody scored in the first
period.  The kids were hilarious. They were clumsy and
terribly inefficient.  They fell over their own feet, they
stumbled over the ball, they kicked at the ball and missed
it but they didn’t seem to care.  They were having fun.

In the second quarter, the Team One coach pulled out
what must have been his first team and put in the scrubs,
except for his best player who now guarded the goal. The
game took a dramatic turn.  I guess winning is important
even when you’re five years old, because the Team Two coach
left his best players in, and the Team One scrubs were no
match for them.

Team Two swarmed around the little guy who was now the
Team One goalie.  He was an outstanding athlete, but he was
no match for three or four who were also very good.  Team Two
began to score. The One goalie gave it everything he had,
recklessly throwing his body in front of incoming balls,
trying valiantly to stop them.

Team Two scored two goals in quick succession. It
infuriated the young boy.  He became a raging maniac —
shouting, running, diving.  With all the stamina he could
muster, he covered the boy who now had the ball, but that
boy kicked it to another boy twenty feet away, and by the
time he repositioned himself, it was too late — they scored
a third goal.

I soon learned who the goalie’s parents were.  They
were nice, neat-looking people.  I could tell that his dad had
just come from the office – he still had his suit and tie on.
They yelled encouragement to their son.  I became totally
absorbed, watching the boy on the field and his parents on the
sidelines.

After the third goal, the little kid changed.  He could
see it was no use, he couldn’t stop them.  He didn’t quit, but
he became quite desperate, futility was written all over him.
His father changed, too.  He had been urging his son to try
harder, yelling advice and encouragement.  But then he changed.
He became anxious.  He tried to say that it was okay — to hang
in there.  He grieved for the pain his son was feeling.

After the fourth goal, I knew what was going to happen.
I’ve seen it before.  The little boy needed help so badly, and
there was no help to be had.  He retrieved the ball from the net
and handed it to the referee and then he cried. He just stood
there while huge tears rolled down both cheeks.  He went to his
knees and put his fists to his eyes — and he cried the tears of
the helpless and brokenhearted.

When the boy went to his knees, I saw the father start
onto the field.  His wife clutched his arm and said, “Jim, don’t.
You’ll embarrass him.”  But he tore loose from her and ran onto
the field.  He wasn’t supposed to — the game was still in progress.
Suit, tie, dress shoes and all, he charged onto the field, and he
picked up his son so everybody would know that this was his boy,
and he hugged him and held him and cried with him. I’ve never been
so proud of a man in my life.

He carried him off the field, and when he got close to the
sidelines I heard him say, “Scotty, I’m so proud of you. You were
great out there.  I want everybody to know that you are my son.”

“Daddy,” the boy sobbed, “I couldn’t stop them.  I tried,
Daddy, I tried and tried, and they scored on me.”

“Scotty, it doesn’t matter how many times they scored on
you. You’re my son, and I’m proud of you.  I want you to go back
out there and finish the game.  I know you want to quit, but you
can’t.  And, son, you’re going to get scored on again, but it
doesn’t matter.  Go on now.”

It made a difference – I could tell it did. When you’re
all alone, and you’re getting scored on — and you can’t stop them,
it means a lot to know that it doesn’t matter to those who love you.
The little guy ran back on to the field — and they scored two more
times but it was okay.

I get scored on every day.  I try so hard.  I recklessly
throw my body in every direction.  I fume and rage, I struggle
with temptation and sin with every ounce of my being — and satan
laughs.  And he scores again, and the tears come, and I go to my
knees — sinful, convicted, and helpless.

And my Father–my Father–rushes right out onto the field —
right in front of the whole crowd — the whole jeering, laughing
world and He picks me up, and He hugs me and He says,
“Child, I love and forgive you.

I want everybody to know that you are my child, and because
I control the outcome of this game, I declare you – Forgiven.”

I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.”

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore unto God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Spiritual Food for the Soul…

Are you spiritually hungry or spiritually starving this morning? There is only One place to go to be filled, spiritually.

Spiritual Food for the soul…

Isaiah 40:11 “He shall feed His flock like a shepherd, He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead…”

If you are a child of the King (born again) as an indicator that you are one of His you will…

I Pet 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word that you may grow thereby…”

So, do you desire to know God’s word?

Along with the desire comes the command to study God’s word. Which only makes sense being as it is our one source of truth that we can trust.

II Tim 2:15 “Study to show yourselves approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

What areas of my life is God’s word beneficial for?

II Tim 3:16,17  “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for
teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so
that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

ALL…

If you do not have the desire you may not be one of His children. Not everyone who says to God that they are one of His truly are one of His. Check out the gospel of John…

Matt 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Romans 8:9 “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”

John 3:3 “For truly I say unto you, except a man is born again he cannot
enter the Kingdom of God.”

And then go to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to be fed!!!!!!!!!!!

John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”

Mat 11:28 “Come unto Me all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I
will give you rest…”
