Jesus, One Solitary Life…

Romans 14:11 “For it is written, as I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

JESUS, ONE SOLITARY LIFE…

Nearly 2,000 years ago in an obscure village in a remote corner of the world, a child was
born of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village where He worked as a carpenter until He was thirty. Then for three years He was a traveling preacher.

This Man never went to college or seminary. He never wrote a book. He never held a
public office. He had no wife or children, and never owned a home. He never traveled more than 200 miles from His birthplace. But though He never did any of the things that usually accompany greatness, throngs of people followed Him.

While He was still young, the tide of public opinion turned against Him. Even his closest
followers deserted Him. He was turned over to His enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was sentenced to death on a cross between two thieves.

While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on
earth— the simple coat He had worn. His body was laid in a borrowed grave provided by a compassionate friend.

But three days later this Man arose from the dead — living proof that He was who He
had claimed to be — God the Son who became man and the Savior whom God the Father had sent.

Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today the risen Lord Jesus Christ is the
central figure of the human race. His birth divides history into two eras. One day of every week is set aside in remembrance of Him. Our two most important holidays celebrate His birth and resurrection.

On church steeples around the world His cross has become the symbol of victory over
sin and death. This one Man’s life has furnished the theme for more songs, books, poems, and paintings than any other person or event in history. Thousands of colleges, hospitals, orphanages, and other institutions have been founded in honor of Him.

All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the governments that
ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned have not changed the course of history or affected mankind as much as——-THIS ONE SOLITARY LIFE.

JESUS, NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

And He is coming again……………..are you ready?

John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

New Year’s Resolution…

New Year’s Resolution…

We have all heard that it’s good to make a New Year’s Resolution and then to even keep it which most of us struggle with. There is one resolution that has eternal consequences if we do not make it. And the beauty of it is that once you make it you do not need any of your efforts to have it be effective. That resolution is to ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord of your life. And for those who have already been ‘born again’ you too can make a resolution for the New Year in regards to your serving Jesus. You see, we all will serve either self and this world or Jesus. Yes, ‘born again’ Christians run the risk of serving self and the world also so do not think you are immune to it.

For all of us whether we are ‘born again’ or not we struggle with the pace of this world controlling us. “Haste makes waste” is not a verse of scripture but it does include some biblical wisdom. I am convinced that one of satans ways of distracting us and keeping us from thinking about God is to make us so busy we think we do not have time for a relationship with our heavenly Father. Especially in the fast paced age we live in. For our days to be spiritually complete we must start them with the One who can accomplish that in our lives. Our God designed us to be busy so not working or having a full schedule is not the answer. The question becomes what are my priorities today and which priority do I start my day with. Now that we have touched on one problem let’s see what the solution is.

II Thes 3:10, 11 “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this; If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.”

Mat 6:33a “But seek you first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”

When it comes to where you will spend eternity you must make sure that speed or complacency are not involved in the decision. When you’re moving too fast you tend to make a lot of mistakes. At least that is my experience. My many experiences. And you can end up going very fast – but in the wrong direction!

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death.”

For those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior there is a need to find your way. And it must be at the top of our priority planning list.

John 14:6 “And Jesus said unto them, I am the way, the truth and the life, no one can come unto the Father but by Me.”

So slow down today and…….

Hebrews 12:1-2 ” Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

You may have just found the one New Year’s resolution that makes sense for eternity.

For those who are ‘born again’ here is a great New Year’s resolution.

Luke 9:23 “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

JESUS IS COMING A SECOND TIME……………….Are You Ready…

Choose you this Day…

Phil 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.”

Choose you this Day…

When many folks use their kitchen sink, they may notice this little
contraption attached to the faucet. It’s called a water filter. Before
the water arrives in your glass or container, it has to pass through
that filter. Or we drink water from our refrigerator door which is also
filtered. Or we pay for water in the bottle that is filtered. We hate
surprises in our H2O.  When replacing one of those filters we are amazed
at the particles that we would never knowingly drink.  The filter
screened out of our drinking water this layer of dirty stuff. We didn’t
even want to think about that going into my body. Let’s hear it for
filters!

Did you know that a lot of people spiritually drink dirt. They do it
mentally by letting a lot of things that are spiritually and morally
impure pour right into their soul as unfiltered input. And if you belong
to Jesus Christ, the dirt is rushing into what the Bible describes as
the “temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). That temple is
you. God literally lives in those who are ‘born again’. And dirty stuff
should never defile His temple. And of course don’t forget the lie the
enemy fills us with that it is ok for the adults to view or listen to
certain programs as long as we protect the children. Why would we
protect our children and knowingly allow filth into our lives?

God clearly commands us to filter what’s coming into our lives and
He never says to just filter it for the children. Actually the opposite
is true. We as the adult parent teachers need to filter the things going
into our minds so we can be the example we are supposed to be to the
children. They are very good at picking up both our good and bad
(sinful) habits.  Too often we do not have a spiritual filter for what we
see and hear. Or we have a pretty wide screen on that filter; one porous
enough to let in a lot that has no place in a heart or a mind that’s
owned by Jesus and inhabited by the Holy Spirit of God.

The following example was given by Ron Hutchcraft. Sometimes it
takes a child to show us “sophisticated” adults how we should be living.
The other day, the teacher was a five-year-old, our grandson, who was
watching a whole new crop of kids’ shows. Captain Kangaroo and Mister
Rogers are long gone; and yes, Big Bird is still flying around Sesame
Street. But now I’m learning about Dora the Explorer, Bob the Builder, a
tomato named Bob, a cucumber named Larry, a fish named Nemo. Our
grandson, of course, has a few favorites he likes to watch. There’s one
he watches almost every day. But the other day, he walked over to the
television and did something he does not do with this program that he
likes a lot. He turned it off in the middle of the show. The story was
starting to involve some ghost and witch stuff. When Daddy asked our
grandson why he had turned off one of his favorites, he just said, “It
was a bad one, daddy.” The radar of a five-year-old boy in whom Jesus
lives and had been trained by Godly parents. He knew that no matter how
much he liked the show, no matter how many shows they have where there’s nothing bad, when it is bad, it isn’t for him. That’s a model for a
Jesus-follower of any age. But all too often, we watch portrayed, or we
read about, or we listen to something that is part of the very sin that
Jesus died for.

One of the problems with eliminating filth programming is that it
needs to be replaced with something clean and spiritually wholesome to
be lasting. Unless you replace the filth programming you will eventually
become bore or disillusioned and return to them. If you replace them
with clean and wholesome programming your mind will be renewed as
scripture says with Godly themes versus sinful themes. It up to us to
make the choice.

Josh 24:15 “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

II Cor 7:1 “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

Tips for Daily Living in the New Year…

Tips for Daily Living in the New Year….

If you want to get the most out of today, try these things:

  1. Focus on your responsibilities, not your rights. It’s an imperfect world and you won’t always be treated fairly. If you want to go far, travel light. Unload your resentments! Scripture says, “. . . you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things that are true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst . . . “(Phil 4:8)
  2. Associate with positive people. The only difference in what you are now and what you’ll be five years from now is the books you read, the company you keep and most importantly the God you serve. Henry Ford once said, “My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.”

What do your friends bring out in you? Solomon said, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Mat 6:33, Prov 13:20)

  1. Make today the best day of your life. When Shirley Temple asked her mother what the happiest moment in her life was, she replied, “Right now.” “But what about the day you were married?”

Shirley asked. Her mum said, “My happiest moment then was then, but my happiest moment now is now. You see, you can live only in the moment you’re in, so to me that’s the happiest moment.” Lasting happiness and contentment comes when you know Jesus as Lord and Savior! So be content and happy!  (Phil 4:11, Isa 52:7)

  1. Present yourself to God’s service. It is the one priority in life with eternal meaning that pleases God. He desires it and I need it. Rom 12:1, 2

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice…” & Heb 12:1, 2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and Finisher of our faith…”

  1. Start each day by reading, praying and meditating on Gods truths for your life. 2 Tim. 2:15 “Study to show yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

So, “How are your morning devotions”?

  1. The best daily tip of all is; seek out the One Who made you, loves you and sent His only begotten Son to restore you…..

(John 3:16, I John 5:11-13)

What great priorities! If His mercies are “new every morning,” (Lam 3:23) and He “daily loadeth us with benefits” (Ps 68:19), then you should get up every day and announce, “This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)

And of course scripture has many more tips for daily living.

If we put #5 into action those tips will reveal themselves.

Happy hunting……….

Jesus is Coming to Earth Again…

Jesus is Coming to Earth Again!

Jesus came the first time as the Lamb of God to be sacrificed for the sins of mankind. Anyone trusting in Him and His sacrifice for their sins will spend eternity with Him. Most expected Him to come the first time as a ruling King and rescue the Jewish nation from the slavery and control of Rome. His first coming was recorded in…

Mat 2:1, 2, 11 “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.’ And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down AND WORSHIPPED HIM.”

Did you know that Jesus is coming AGAIN as a Lion from the tribe of Judah|||||?

Dan 12:2-4 “And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine, like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

All of mankind must choose between Jesus and eternity with Him or… Some to everlasting death (hell) and some to everlasting life with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So, how do I make sure that I am with Jesus for eternity and not doomed to everlasting punishment?

Acts 16:31 “So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Note scripture does not say to add any trust in your Church, your good deeds, your wealth or any other work you do to be saved and spend eternity with Jesus. So, which Judgment Seat will you be at when Jesus returns? If you are not 100% sure of where you will spend eternity now is the time to find out.

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Titus 3:5 “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit”

Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Everyone placing their faith for where they will spend eternity into something. How about your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers……..? What are you placing your faith in?

Romans 10:14 “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him?

And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him?

And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”

A CHRISTmas Moment…

Luke 12:15 “And he said unto them, Take heed, and
beware of covetousness: for a man’s life does not consist
in the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

A CHRISTmas Moment…

Getting mauled at the mall, getting paralyzed in traffic,
overheating your credit card. Christmas can sure make
you tired of shopping. Especially if you can’t find what
you’re looking for.  It’s a feeling that’s not unique to
Christmas – many of us are tired of shopping for what will
fill the hole in our heart.

We look for it one relationship after another, one
conquest after another, one experience after another.
There’s this persistent whisper in our heart – “Something’s
missing.” Actually, the something is Someone. That first
Christmas, the wise men’s long search ended when, as
the Bible says, “They bowed down and worshiped Jesus.”
(Matthew 2:11) That’s where your search will end, too.

The Bible says we were “created by Christ and for Christ”
(Colossians 1:16) – which means the hole in your heart is there
until you have Christ. No amount of buying and receiving will fill it.

It took Jesus’ awful persecution and death on the cross to
pay for the sin that’s separated us from God. But now His
love, His peace, His meaning for your life is within your
reach – if you’ll just, “Call upon the Lord for forgiveness.”

You’ve shopped long enough. Come on home.

Acts 16:31 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and you shall be saved, and your house.”

Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.”

Integrity and Truth at All Cost…

Integrity and Truth at All Cost!

It may be just me, but I do not think so. It seems like one of our biggest enemies we battle on a daily basis is truth, honesty and integrity. Daily especially in our politics this vital quality is missing from most of our politicians. Closer to home can those around us really trust that we go out of our way to be honest? I hope and pray so. As I think of why the battle is so intense the Holy Spirit reminds me of what happened in the Garden. Adam and Eve were lied to by the master deceiver and ever since he has been actively trying to convince us that honesty is not all that important. You know, especially if no one gets hurt. But of course, that ignores the fact that a loving God is watching and is hurt when we sin. And that little white lie is as big of a sin as any of the other sins.

James 2:10 “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Proverbs 8:7 “For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Can people take you at your word?

Mat 5:37 ” But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil.”

Evil or lies are started and continue today with the father of lies
(satan) whispering, “it’s ok, you’re not hurting anyone”. It’s not hurting anyone.

Listen to who we are associated with when we take that course;

John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the
desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does
not stand in the truth because – there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
