What if this Great CHRISTian…

Romans 12:1, 2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

What if this Great CHRISTian??

  • What if Billy Graham had not decided to develop and use the Spiritual Gift of Evangelism that God gave him?
  • What if Joni Erikson Tata had allowed her accident to put her into deep depression instead of allowing God to use it to minister to the handicapped?
  • What if DL Moody had decided to leave school early, join a gang and spent the rest of his life in prison?
  • What if James Dobson had decided to move to Africa and be a wild game hunter for his profession?
  • What if Peter had allowed his denial of Jesus to place him into a level of depression that kept him from serving the first Church as one of its Elders and Teachers?
  • What if Mary out of fear had chosen to not follow God’s will for her life?
  • What if Joseph out of fear had refused to recognize God’s will for his life and turned into a complaining self pitying person?
  • What if you decide to live life with the worldly goals of obtaining wealth and fame instead of what God has for you?
  • What if you decide not attend a local biblically sound church because there are too many hypocrites there?
  • What if they and you had never placed their faith in Jesus as their Savior?
  • What if you never decide to decide??????

Joshua 24:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

The Empty Chair and Jesus…

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Mat 11:28, 29 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

The Empty Chair and Jesus:

A man’s daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her
father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his
head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed. The
minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. “I
guess you were expecting me,” he said. “No, who are you?” said the father.

The minister told him his name and then remarked, “I see the empty chair;
I figured you knew I was going to show up.” “Oh yeah, the chair,” said the
bedridden man. “Would you mind closing the door?” Puzzled, the minister
shut the door. “I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter,” said
the man. “But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I
used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head.”

“I abandoned any attempt at prayer,” the old man continued, “until one day
about four years ago my best friend said to me, ‘Johnny, prayer is just a
simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest:
Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see
Jesus on the chair.’ It’s not spooky because He promised, “I’ll be with you
always.” Then just speak to him in the same way you’re doing with me right
now.’ “So, I tried it and I’ve liked it so much that I do it a couple of
hours every day. I’m careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an
empty chair, she’d either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the
funny farm.” The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the
old man to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him
and returned to the church. Two nights later the daughter called
to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. “Did he die in
peace?” he asked.”Yes, when I left the house about two o’clock, he called
me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek.

When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there
was something strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he
leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed.

What do you make of that?”

The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, “I wish we could all go like that”

Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord.”

Facts! Heaven and Hell are Real…

Facts!  Heaven and Hell are Real….

Facts!   Heaven and hell are both real. Both are supported and mentioned many times in scripture. We all spend some 70-90 years for most of us on this earth and then comes eternity in one of those two places. That word eternity is not a word that is easily comprehended but it is real. Many choose to avoid even thinking about where they will spend eternity. God said the choice is ours to make. Sin broke our relationship with God and we have a choice as to whether we will allow Jesus to restore it for us. What we do with the sin in our lives determines our fate.

  • All are sinners. (Rom 3:10, 3:23, Isaiah 64:6)
  • Sin brings on death and all of the worlds ugliness. (Romans 6:23)
  • God cannot commune with sinful people who like Adam and Eve break their relationship with God by sinning. (Gen 2, 3)
  • A sacrifice is needed to restore the fellowship we break with God by our sins. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8)

Facts! All false religions claim that works are our means of restoring that relationship. Some of those religions even have the name of Jesus in them. Just having the name of Jesus in your church doctrine does not assure your salvation n or that the church you are attending is feeding you and your family God’s truths. Ask one telling question. Does anything needed to be added to the sacrifice that Jesus paid on Calvary to provide me salvation and eternity in heaven with God? Does Baptism, Church membership, Church attendance or sacraments etc need to be added… If any are being taught as a needed activity along with Jesus sacrifice for our sins, then….

Gal 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Ephesians 2:8, 9 “For by grace are you saved by faith, and that not of yourself, it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone would boast.”

John 14:6 “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Heb 10:11 “Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices,  which can never take away sins.

The sacrifice of Jesus our Savior is all we need!

Heb 10:12 “But He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God.”

Heb 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Which sacrifice do you trust in this morning?

The Sense of a Goose and Teamwork…

Heb 10:25a “And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds…”

The Sense of a Goose and Teamwork

When you see geese flying along in “V” formation, you
might consider what science has discovered as to why they
fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an
uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in “V”
formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 percent greater
flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction and sense of
community can get where they are going more quickly and
easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one
another.

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels
the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone – and
quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the
lifting power of the bird in front.

If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in
formation with those people who are headed the same way we are.

When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the
wing and another goose flies point.

It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs,
whether with people or with geese flying south.

Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to
keep up their speed.

What messages do we give when we honk from behind?

Finally – and this is important – when a goose gets sick or
is wounded by gunshot, and falls out of formation,
two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down
to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose
until it is able to fly or until it dies, and only then do
they launch out on their own, or with another formation to
catch up with their group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each
other like that.

Heb 10:24, 25 “And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

Putting things into the Right Perspective…

I Tim 6:6 “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”
***Putting things into the Right Perspective!!!

“Come in,” God said to me,
“So, you would like to interview Me?”

“If you have the time,” I said.

God smiled and said:
“My time is called eternity and is enough to do everything;
What questions do you have in mind to ask me?”
” Probably none that are new to you.

What’s the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?”

God answered:

– That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.
– That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.
– That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future.

– That they willing trade fellowship with Me for the pleasures of sin for a moment that bring spiritual and physical death.
– That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived…”

God’s hands took mine and we were silent.

After a long period, I said,
“May I ask you another question?”

“As a Parent, what would you ask your children to do?”

God replied with a smile:

– To learn that they cannot make anyone love them.
– The first step is to display My love which is unconditional.”
– To learn that it takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.
– To learn that what is most valuable is not the things they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.
– To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. There will be others better and worse than they are.
– To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who gives the most.
– To learn that they should control their attitudes, otherwise their attitudes will control them.
– To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.
– To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
– To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to show their feelings.
– To learn that money can buy things that will perish but it cannot buy happiness and fulfillment and peace that last for eternity.
– To learn that while at times they may be entitled to be upset, that does not give them the right to upset those around them.
– To learn that great dreams of eternal value do not require inner strength, but they do require My strength to achieve.
– To learn that true friends are scarce, he/she who has found one has found a true treasure.
– To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they forgive others and themselves. Even when you are the offended.
– To learn that they are masters of what they keep to themselves and slaves of what they say.
– To learn that they shall reap what they plant; if they plant gossip they will harvest intrigues, if they plant love they will harvest happiness.
– To learn that happiness is a blessing and a decision. They decide to be happy with what they are and have, or die from envy and jealousy of what they lack.
– To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.
– To learn that those who are honest with themselves and those around them will be content and at peace regardless of the circumstances.
– To learn that even though they may think they have nothing to give, when a friend cries with them, they find the strength to appease the pain.
– By learning when to hold on to loved ones, and when to let go of those they love, they will be side by side forever.
– To learn that even though the word “love” has many different meanings, it loses value when it is overstated or falsely spoken.
– To learn that they can never do something extraordinary for Me to love them; I simply do.
– To learn that the shortest distance they could be from Me is the distance to their knees.”

Mat 6:33 “But seek you first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness…”

CAUTION – we are 2000 Years Closer…

CAUTION we are 2000 Years Closer!

Did you know that we are in the last times or last days?  You say, what does that mean and are you one of those doom day people? It has to do with the two times that Jesus will come to our earth. Jesus came the first time to pay the sacrifice for our sins, so we could accept Him as Lord and Savior and restore that broken fellowship with God.  His 2nd coming will put an end to sin and death as this world knows it and…….

We are now 2000 years closer to His second coming.

What a thought!!!! Yes, we have friends and family that are unsaved or who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior so this day should take on even more urgency!

Heb 1:1,2a “God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…”

Jesus, name above all names! He alone is worthy!!!!!!!!!!

He is able to reveal and perform the events of the last days|

Rev 5:2,3&9 “Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and to lose the seals?’ And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. And they sang a new song, saying, ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God BY YOUR BLOOD out of every tribe and tongue and nation.’ “

Have you been ‘born again’? Are you walking in His power? Have you shared the Gospel with the lost all around you or even just one?

Col 1:13,14 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of His love, in whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, the forgiveness of sins.”

Today would be a good day for us to awake to God’s will for our lives!

How to get Real Freedom…

How to get Real Freedom!

What does it mean to be free and what is freedom. And of course where does Real Freedom and Truth come from? As always, our God gives us the answer. If we will seek it that is…..

John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Our world is ever changing, especially the technology portion of it. It is easy for satan to whisper in our ear that values and morals also change from age to age. Those not agreeing are considered old fashion or intolerant bigots or, well you put in the title. Again, as with all topics of eternal significance our God does not leave us without the truth. So where does truth come from and does it change down through the ages like technology?

Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

Only believe…..

Romans 5:15-16 “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if
through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and
the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto
many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the
judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many
offences unto justification.

John 3:18 “He that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that
believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the
Name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Acts 16:31 “And he said unto them, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and
you shall be saved.”

I have a great idea. How about picking up the one book that holds truth and start reading today!

II Tim 3:16, 17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
