Where to find Absolute Truth for Today…

Where to find Absolute Truth!

We all want answers to the troubles of life. So, where do you go when you need an answer? How about the Bible? Some say the Bible was and is just the writings of men as are millions of books found in the local library. Is that the case?

Is the Gospel of John a book of John’s words and John’s wisdom? Is the book of Romans a book of Paul’s words and Paul’s wisdom? The same question applies to the other books of scripture. Just who’s thoughts, words and wisdom, are they? The question is are the scriptures actually the word, thoughts and truths of God or of men? If they are the truths of God and not men we then have the ONLY source of truth we will ever need for directing our paths through life!! And if the authors are human then the thoughts conveyed there are merely that, only the thoughts of men.

Also, one of my bibles has the words that Jesus spoke outlined in red. There is a danger in thinking that only those words are God’s words. I remember a 6th grader saying to me during an AWANA night (kids program at church) that those red letters mean that God is speaking to us. With that thought process they unknowingly were thinking that all the other words were not from God. The truth is that God inspired and protects the words in black print also. I don’t know about you, but the scriptures take on a much more important place in my life when just Who is speaking to me is recognized as God!!!!! Listen to what God declares about His word and then you decide.

II Tim 3:16,117 “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness so that the man of God may be made perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

Then the question arises about how God did it. Now listen to how our Lord recorded His word.

II Peter 3:18 “Knowing this first that no prophesy of scripture is of any private interpretation, for the prophesy came not in old times by the will of men, but holy men of God spoke, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

The lives that God used to reveal His word to us do have significance. Those individuals and their lives had an awesome privilege in that God used their lives to point out His direction and truth for our lives. In the Bible God used the lives of 40 different people to reveal His truths. The important thing is that they are God’s truths and wisdom and not those of the scribes. The truths of scripture are God’s truths which only He allowed to be recorded as such and protects down through the ages. God also promises to protect His truths down through the ages so that no man can change them and so that every generation has them. The jot and tittle noted in Mat 5:18 are small punctuation marks in the languages God used to record His word and even those will not be lost down through the ages so that we have all the truth to make eternal decisions by.

Mat 5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Isa 55:10,11 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

One great example of how God revealed His truths is recorded in the last book of the Bible. Listen to how God revealed it to us.

Rev 1:911a “I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book…”

Whose writings and counsel do you turn to?

Psalm 1:1-4 “Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, but his delight is in the law of the Lord and in the law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth it’s fruit in its season, and whatever he does shall prosper.”

From Life Lessons I’ve Learned that…

Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.”

From Life Lessons I’ve Learned that…
that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I’ve learned
that it’s taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.  In fact,
by myself I cannot become that person.

I’ve learned
that you should always leave loved ones
with loving words.  It may be the last time you see them.

I’ve learned
that you can keep going
long after you can’t.

I’ve learned
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I’ve learned
that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.

I’ve learned
that regardless of how hot and
steamy a relationship is at first,
the passion fades and there had
better be something else to take its place.

I’ve learned
that heroes are the people
who do what must be done
when it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.

I’ve learned
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I’ve learned
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.

I’ve learned
that sometimes the people you expect
to kick you when you’re down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I’ve learned
that sometimes when I’m angry
I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn’t give me
the right to be cruel.

I’ve learned
that true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I’ve learned
that just because someone doesn’t love
you the way you want them to, doesn’t
mean they don’t love you with all they have.

I’ve learned
that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you’ve had
and what you’ve learned from them
and less to do with how many
birthdays you’ve celebrated.

I’ve learned
that no matter how good a friend is,
they’re going to hurt you every
once in a while and you must forgive
them for that.

I’ve learned
that it isn’t always enough to be
forgiven by others.  Sometimes you
have to learn to forgive yourself.

I’ve learned
that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn’t stop for your grief.

I’ve learned
that our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.

I’ve learned
that just because two people argue,
it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other.
And just because they don’t argue,
it doesn’t mean they do.

I’ve learned
that we don’t have to change friends
if we understand that friends change.

I’ve learned
that you shouldn’t be so eager to find out a
secret.  It could change your life forever.

I’ve learned
that two people can look at the exact
same thing and see something totally different.

I’ve learned
that your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don’t even know you.

I’ve learned
that even when you think you have no more
to give, when a friend cries out to you,
you will find the strength to help.

I’ve learned
that credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.

I’ve learned
that the people you care about most in life
are taken from you too soon.

Ecclesiastes 12:13,14
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter.
Fear God and keep His commandments, for this
is the whole duty of mankind.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing, whether good or
whether evil.”

Want to be Content…

Want to be Content…

Our lives are spent attempting to find peace and contentment. Our world tells us that it comes by having money, health, fame, position and on and on. Our world never mentions a relationship with God as the primary way to contentment. Do you ever wonder why that would be?

II Cor 4:3, 4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.”

Are you content and at peace with all things in your life? No, I mean actually content??????????

And of course there is one thing in your life that should never bring peace. It’s called sin and that sin keeps us from real peace and contentment.

I Tim 6:6-10a “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…”

Contentment starts with right priorities!!!!!!!

Mat 6:33 “But seek you first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness…”

Phil 4:7, 8 “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Convicting isn’t it? How do I know? I speak from continuing experiences!!!!!!

Today is a great day to start a change of priorities.

Luke 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

Prescribed by the Great Physician…

Matthew 4:18-19 “And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

2 Cor. 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Moses and a former President…

Exodus 3:13-15 “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

Moses and a former President….
While going through an airport during one of his many trips, former President Bush encountered a man with long gray hair, wearing a white robe and sandals, holding a staff.

President Bush went up to the man and said, “Has anyone told you that you look like Moses?”

The man didn’t answer. He just kept staring straight ahead.

The President said, “Moses!” in a loud voice.

The man just stared ahead, never acknowledging the President. The president pulled a Secret Service agent aside and, pointing to the robed man, asked him, “Am I crazy or does that man not look like Moses to you?”

The Secret Service agent looked at the man and agreed.

“Well,” said the president, “every time I say his name, he ignores me and stares straight ahead, refusing to speak. Watch!”

Again the President yelled, “Moses!” and again the man ignored him.

The Secret Service agent went up to the man in the white robe and whispered, “You look just like Moses.

Are you Moses?”

The man leaned over and whispered back, “Yes, I am Moses. However, the last time I talked to a bush, I spent 40 years wandering in the desert and ended up leading my people to the only spot in the entire Middle East where there was no oil, at least none found to date.”

But, Moses did recognize and praise God for His loving guidance.

Psalm 7:17 “I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.”

Merry CHRISTMAS – Why Jesus came to earth…

Luke 2:1-14

“And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.  So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Glory in the Highest

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Why Jesus came to earth….

John 14:6  “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”

John 19:28-30  “After this, Jesus, knowing[e] that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”  Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Merry CHRISTmas!
