The Effects of Sin on Future Generations…

The Effects of Sin on Future Generations…

Our lives will affect our children, our children’s children and our
children’s, children’s, children.

Deut 5:7&9 “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not bow
down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the third and fourth generations.”

Example from scripture = David, his son Solomon and his son Rehoboam.

David committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered her husband Uriah
to try and cover up his sins. David confessed his sins and God forgave
him but his ancestors and David reaped what he had sown.

Solomon’s’ sin of lust went unconfessed. Solomon took wives from the
nations our Lord commanded he not do so from.

I Kings 11-14a “So the Lord said to Solomon, because you have done
this, and you have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have
commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and give it to
your servant. Nevertheless I will not do it in your days for the sake of
your father David, but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.
However, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe
to your son for the sake of your father David and for the sake of
Jerusalem which I have chosen. Then the Lord raised up an adversary to
Solomon…”

Rehoboam, Solomon’s son committed similar sins as his father and his
fathers’ father but with increased magnitude. The judgment severity
also increased.

I Kings 14:21 “Now Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah…”

I Kings 14:22 “Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they
provoked Him to jealousy MORE than all that their fathers had done,

with the sins which they committed.”

So much for the thought that I am only affecting me……………
What will our children reap from our lives?????????????

Of course, there is a way to keep from the same. Check it out….

Heb 12:1, 2, I John 1:9, Rom 12:1, 2….

Truth for Living…Where to find it…

Libraries and bookstores are bursting with self-help books, most of which are products or byproducts of this world’s psychology industry. Requests for books to help with this or that problem abound, as if there is one special book, other than the Bible, that can do the trick. Self-help books promise way more than they supply. And without exception they attempt to make the reader believe someone other than the reader is at fault for the troubles of life.

However, there is one book that supplies exactly what it promises.  The Bible is the book that reveals God’s Truth for Christian living.

2 Peter 1:3-4 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”

The Bible is the source of truth for our lives and our Christian living. God has given us His Word, which is the truth about Himself, the universe, and mankind. He has given us His truth concerning life and eternity. The Scriptures give us truth that reveals the way of salvation for sinners, the way of sanctification and spiritual growth for believers, and the hope of eternity with Jesus. As believers follow God’s truth, they find love, joy, and peace, as well as purpose and direction for serving God and one another.

If you are looking for truth about God, about yourself, about others, and about how to relate to one another, you will find that truth in the Bible. If you think you have found it elsewhere, be very skeptical unless it can be traced back to the Bible.  And without exception if a man developed philosophy differs from the word of God it cannot be from God! If it can be traced back to the scriptures then you have God’s truths. Check out every tradition and philosophy of mankind with God’s word. Those that do not come from His word regardless of how good they sound are dangerous and to be avoided and discarded.

Acts 17:11 “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

How do I know that scripture is from God?

2 Tim. 3:16a-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, furnished unto all good works.

How do I know that the books of scripture are not just the teachings of men?

2 Peter 1:20-21 “Knowing this first thoroughly, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

The Blood of Jesus…The Only Solution to…

Psalm 55:23 “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you.
He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

The Blood Of Jesus…The Only Solution to…

One night in a church service a young woman felt the tug of God
at her heart. She responded to God’s call and accepted Jesus as her Lord
and Savior. The young woman had a very rough past, involving alcohol,
drugs, and prostitution. But, the change in her was evident. As time went
on she became a faithful member of the church. She eventually became
involved in the ministry, teaching young children. It was not very long
until this faithful young woman had caught the eye and heart of the
pastor’s son. The relationship grew and they began to make wedding
plans. This is when the problems began. You see, about one half of the
church did not think that a woman with a past such as hers was suitable
for a pastor’s son.

The church began to argue and fight about the matter. So, they
decided to have a meeting. As the people made their arguments and
tensions increased, the meeting was getting completely out of hand. The
young woman became very upset about all the things being brought up
about her past.

As she began to cry the pastor’s son stood to speak. He could
not bear the pain it was causing his wife-to-be. He began to speak and
his statement was this: “My fiancée’s past is not what is on trial here.
What you are questioning is the ability of the blood of Jesus to wash
away sin. Today you have put the blood of Jesus on trial. So, does it
wash away sin or not?” The whole church began to weep as they realized
that they had been slandering the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Too often, even as Christians, we bring up the past and use it
as a weapon against our brothers and sisters. Forgiveness is a very
foundational part of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. If the blood
of Jesus does not cleanse the other person completely then it cannot
cleanse us completely. If that is the case, then we are all in a lot of
trouble. What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! End
of case!!!

Hebrews 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood;
and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

II Cor 4:3,4 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to those who are lost, in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, Who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

Satan at work in America….

This was written by a teen in after one of our many tragedies in America.

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God’s name is prohibited by the state.

We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the ‘unwed daddy’, our Senior King.

It’s “inappropriate” to teach right from wrong,

We’re taught that such “judgments” do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It’s scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; my soul please take.

Amen

I wonder who may be behind this?

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

II Cor 4:3,4 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to those who are lost, in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them that believe not…”

One important thing to remember is that…

I John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Witches, Psychi Readers, Mediums, Horoscopes are all satanic…

Witches, Psychic Readers, Mediums, Horoscopes are all satanic……

Have you ever wondered what the future holds for your life? Sure, you have. So, the
obvious question is, are there reliable sources of that information? Of course, keep in mind that all sources of information and sources of power are not from God. There is a god of this age and this world and he is not the One true God.

II Cor 4:3, 4 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to those who are lost, in whom the god
of this world has blinded the minds of those who believe not lest the light of the
glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

And of course the only reliable source comes from the God who created all things
including us. God exposes frauds that are in our world who proclaim that they can present you with what the future holds. They represent the other source of power in this world. And of course to expose them we look into the one source of never changing truth that God has given us, His scriptures.

Do you know what God’s action for false prophets in the Old Testament was? It was
death. While that penalty may not apply today the warning and exposing of false prophets and
teachers is the same. And of course those false prophets will give account
someday to Jesus in heaven why they did what they did.

The New Testament proclaims that the Old Testament was written beforehand for our
benefit to learn from and to help us not to make the same mistakes or be led into the same sins.
Psychic readers, mediums, witches, horoscopes are just some that present satanic error today.

Duet 13:1-3a, 5a “If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and
he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder comes to pass, of which
he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after the gods which you have not known, and
let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams…”

Duet 18:20, 22a “But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I
have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that
prophet shall die. When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does
not come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken.

Lev 19:26b,31 “… nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying…Give no regard to
mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them; I am
the Lord your God.”

And of course God does give us a way to know the future. He even offers a view into
eternity and the comfort of knowing where we will spend it! Wow!

I John 5:11-13a “And this is the record that God has given to us eternal life and that life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life and he who has not the Son has not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God
that you may know that you have eternal life…”

Do you know without a doubt where your eternity will be spent? And how about family
members, friends, co-workers and neighbors?

Do you Need Help….

Do you want stability and success in your life? Do you need someone to provide you with counseling on how to do so? Do you want a counselor who can never advise you incorrectly? Most Counselors in our world treat symptoms vs the root cause. Why is that?

Do you want help in time of trouble?

Where do I go when I need Counsel…

Psalm 1:1-6 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

So, God says that we cannot go to Counselors who do not know Jesus as their Savior. Why is it that the unsaved cannot counsel the hurting with advice that is in line with what God gives us?

I Cor 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. “

We also must understand that

God’s Counsel is the only Counsel that never changes and offers hope, lasting hope.

So here is the quiz.

1. Where do you get your counsel from?
2. How much time do you allocate daily to reading God’s truths from His word to us (Bible)?
3. Is your tree (life) firmly planted on the Rock (Jesus)?

If you need counsel this morning seek out someone who will use God’s truths as his or her guide.

Without that basis for truth you will never get to the root cause of your problems.

Sin, does it still exist…

Sin, does it still exist!

Do you believe that sin is still alive and active today? A good way to tell is to ask yourself when is the last time you recognized a sinful habit in your life.

The ugly truth is that sin is as active as it has ever been and that makes release from its bondage a must if we are to have peace! Woe, did I say bondage?

Yes, that is what sin does to us whether a ‘born again’ believer or not it can control our lives.

Mal 3:6a “For I am the Lord, I do not change;

Our world has tried to avoid this topic starting with Adam and Eve who tried to run from God. The truth is that God and His truths do not change over time.

And we are never able to run from God. He is all knowing and everywhere all at once.

There can be no hiding from His eyes.

Sin today is the same as sin of the past and the wages of our sin is death both physical and spiritual.

Heb 2:14, 15 “… He Himself likewise shared in the same that through death He might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

Are you in bondage or in release? How about your family and/or friends?

The solution to the problem!

I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Take them to the Savior! There is no one else who can help and there is only One Who can be our Mediator with God the Father.

Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I Tim 2:5 “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
