An old Cherokee is telling his grandson about a fight that is going on
inside him. He said it is between 2 wolves.

One is evil: Anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt,
resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is good: Joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness,
benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
“Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied,

“The one I feed.”

Romans 8:3-5 “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through
the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be
fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they
that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after
the Spirit the things of the Spirit
.”

Gal 6:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.”

God knows where you need to be!

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong and the children
are slow getting dressed and you can’t seem to find the car keys and you hit every
traffic light, don’t get mad or frustrated; praise God instead because God is at work
watching over you.

Listen to this account of why we may need a perspective change.  After Sept. 11 … I happened to call a man on business that I didn’t know and have not, nor will ever, talk to again. But this day, he felt like talking.  He was the head of security of a company that had invited the remaining members of a company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space. With his voice full of awe, he told me stories of why these people were
alive and their counterparts were dead ….and all the stories were just ‘little’ things.

As you might know, the head of the company got in late that day
because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was his
turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn’t go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One’s car wouldn’t start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn’t get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn’t get a taxi.
There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered
and put in a book.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of
shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there,
he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to
answer a ringing telephone …. all the little things that annoy me …I think to myself,
this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little
things and may you remember their possible purpose

As a ‘born again’ believer we are reminded that;

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them
who love the Lord, to them who are called according to His purposes”

And another reminder. Some were in the Towers on that day to be a light
among a dark world to help those needing and wanting last minute help….today
they are with Jesus….

Putting things into the Right Perspective…

I Tim 6:6 “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”

“Come in,” God said to me,
“So, you would like to interview Me?”

“If you have the time,” I said.

God smiled and said:
“My time is called eternity and is enough to do everything;
What questions do you have in mind to ask me?”
” Probably none that are new to you.

What’s the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?”

God answered:

– That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.
– That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.
– That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future.

– That they willing trade fellowship with Me for the pleasures of sin for a moment that bring spiritual and physical death.
– That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived…”

God’s hands took mine and we were silent.

After a long period, I said,
“May I ask you another question?”

“As a Parent, what would you ask your children to do?”

God replied with a smile:

– To learn that they cannot make anyone love them.
– The first step is to display My love which is unconditional.”
– To learn that it takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.
– To learn that what is most valuable is not the things they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.
– To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. There will be others better and worse than they are.
– To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who gives the most.
– To learn that they should control their attitudes, otherwise their attitudes will control them.
– To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.
– To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
– To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to show their feelings.
– To learn that money can buy things that will perish but it cannot buy happiness and fulfillment and peace that last for eternity.
– To learn that while at times they may be entitled to be upset, that does not give them the right to upset those around them.
– To learn that great dreams of eternal value do not require inner strength, but they do require My strength to achieve.
– To learn that true friends are scarce, he/she who has found one has found a true treasure.
– To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they forgive others and themselves. Even when you are the offended.
– To learn that they are masters of what they keep to themselves and slaves of what they say.
– To learn that they shall reap what they plant; if they plant gossip they will harvest intrigues, if they plant love they will harvest happiness.
– To learn that happiness is a blessing and a decision. They decide to be happy with what they are and have, or die from envy and jealousy of what they lack.
– To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.
– To learn that those who are honest with themselves and those around them will be content and at peace regardless of the circumstances.
– To learn that even though they may think they have nothing to give, when a friend cries with them, they find the strength to appease the pain.
– By learning when to hold on to loved ones, and when to let go of those they love, they will be side by side forever.
– To learn that even though the word “love” has many different meanings, it loses value when it is overstated or falsely spoken.
– To learn that they can never do something extraordinary for Me to love them; I simply do.
– To learn that the shortest distance they could be from Me is the distance to their knees.”

Mat 6:33 “But seek you first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness…”

CAUTION – we are 2000 Years Closer…

CAUTION we are 2000 Years Closer!

Did you know that we are in the last times or last days?  You say, what does that mean and are you one of those doom day people? It has to do with the two times that Jesus will come to our earth. Jesus came the first time to pay the sacrifice for our sins, so we could accept Him as Lord and Savior and restore that broken fellowship with God.  His 2nd coming will put an end to sin and death as this world knows it and…….

We are now 2000 years closer to His second coming.

What a thought!!!! Yes, we have friends and family that are unsaved or who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior so this day should take on even more urgency!

Heb 1:1,2a “God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…”

Jesus, name above all names! He alone is worthy!!!!!!!!!!

He is able to reveal and perform the events of the last days|

Rev 5:2,3&9 “Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and to lose the seals?’ And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. And they sang a new song, saying, ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God BY YOUR BLOOD out of every tribe and tongue and nation.’ “

Have you been ‘born again’? Are you walking in His power? Have you shared the Gospel with the lost all around you or even just one?

Col 1:13,14 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of His love, in whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, the forgiveness of sins.”

Today would be a good day for us to awake to God’s will for our lives!

What Love looks like…

 

Matthew 25:40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Bobby was getting cold sitting out in his back yard in the snow. Bobby

didn’t wear boots; he didn’t like them and anyway he didn’t own any.

The thin sneakers he wore had a few holes in them and they did a poor

job of keeping out the cold.

Bobby had been in his backyard for about an hour already. And, try as

he might, he could not come up with an idea for his mother’s Christmas

gift. He shook his head as he thought, “This is useless, even if I do

come up with an idea, I don’t have any money to spend.”

Ever since his father had passed away three years ago, the family of five

had struggled. It wasn’t because his mother didn’t care, or try, there just

never seemed to be enough. She worked nights at the hospital, but the

small wage that she was earning could only be stretched so far.

What the family lacked in money and material things, they more than made

up for in love and family unity. Bobby had two older and one younger sister,

who ran the household in their mother’s absence.

All three of his sisters had already made beautiful gifts for their mother.

Somehow it just wasn’t fair. Here it was Christmas Eve already, and he

had nothing.

Wiping a tear from his eye, Bobby kicked the snow and started to walk

down to the street where the shops and stores were. It wasn’t easy being

six without a father, especially when he needed a man to talk to.

Bobby walked from shop to shop, looking into each decorated window.

Everything seemed so beautiful and so out of reach. It was starting to

get dark and Bobby reluctantly turned to walk home when suddenly his

eyes caught the glimmer of the setting sun’s rays reflecting off something

along the curb. He reached down and discovered a shiny dime.

Never has anyone felt so wealthy as Bobby felt at that moment.

As he held his new-found treasure, a warmth spread throughout his entire

body and he walked into the first store he saw. His excitement quickly turned

cold when salesperson after salesperson told him that he could not buy

anything with only a dime.

He saw a flower shop and went inside to wait in line. When the shop owner

asked if he could help him, Bobby presented the dime and asked if he could

buy one flower for his mother’s Christmas gift. The shop owner looked at

Bobby and his ten-cent offering. Then he put his hand on Bobby’s shoulder

and said to him, “You just wait here, and I’ll see what I can do for you.”

As Bobby waited, he looked at the beautiful flowers and even though he was a

boy, he could see why mothers and girls liked flowers. The sound of the door

closing as the last customer left, jolted Bobby back to reality. All alone in the shop, Bobby began to feel alone and afraid.

Suddenly the shop owner came out and moved to the counter. There, before

Bobby’s eyes lay twelve long stem, red roses, with leaves of green and tiny

white flowers all tied together with a big silver bow. Bobby’s heart sank as

the owner picked them up and placed them gently into a long white box.

“That will be ten cents young man.” the shop owner said reaching out his

hand for the dime. Slowly, Bobby moved his hand to give the man his dime.

Could this be true?  No one else would give him a thing for his dime! Sensing

the boy’s reluctance, the shop owner added, “I just happened to have some

roses on sale for ten cents a dozen. Would you like them?”

This time Bobby did not hesitate, and when the man placed the long box into

his hands, he knew it was true. Walking out the door that the owner was

holding for Bobby, he heard the shop keeper say, “Merry Christmas, son.”

As he returned inside, the shop keepers wife walked out. “Who were you

talking to back there and where are the roses you were fixing?”

Staring out the window, and blinking the tears from his own eyes, he replied,

“A strange thing happened to me this morning.  Just a few minutes ago, a little boy came into the shop and wanted to buy a flower for his mother with one small dime.  When I looked at him, I saw myself, many years ago.

The shop owner and his wife hugged each other tightly, and as they stepped

out’ into the bitter cold air, they somehow didn’t feel cold at all.

How to get Real Freedom…

How to get Real Freedom!

What does it mean to be free and what is freedom. And of course where does Real Freedom and Truth come from? As always, our God gives us the answer. If we will seek it that is…..

John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Our world is ever changing, especially the technology portion of it. It is easy for satan to whisper in our ear that values and morals also change from age to age. Those not agreeing are considered old fashion or intolerant bigots or, well you put in the title. Again, as with all topics of eternal significance our God does not leave us without the truth. So where does truth come from and does it change down through the ages like technology?

Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

Only believe…..

Romans 5:15-16 “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if
through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and
the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto
many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the
judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many
offences unto justification.

John 3:18 “He that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that
believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the
Name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Acts 16:31 “And he said unto them, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and
you shall be saved.”

I have a great idea. How about picking up the one book that holds truth and start reading today!

 II Tim 3:16, 17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Did you know that 52 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence
were orthodox, deeply committed Christians? The other three all believed in
the Bible as the divine truth, the God of scripture, and in His personal intervention.

It is the same Congress that formed the American Bible Society. Immediately
after creating the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress
voted to purchase and import 20,000 copies of scripture for the people of this nation.

Patrick Henry, who is called the firebrand of the American Revolution, is
still remembered for his words, “Give me liberty or give me death.” But in
current textbooks the context of these words is deleted. Here is what he
actually said: “An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left
us. But we shall not fight our battle alone. There is a just God that
presides over the destinies of nations. The battle Sir, is not to the strong
alone. Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of
chains and slavery? Forbid it almighty God. I know not what course others
may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death.”

These sentences have been erased from our textbooks. Was Patrick Henry a
Christian? You be the judge. The following year, 1776, he wrote this: “It
cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great Nation was
founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have
been afforded freedom of worship here.”

Consider these words that Thomas Jefferson wrote on the front of his
well-worn Bible: “I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the
doctrines of Jesus. I have little doubt that our whole country will soon be
rallied to the unity of our Creator “He was also the chairman of the
American Bible Society, which he considered his highest and most
important role.

On July 4, 1821, President Adams said, “The highest glory of the American
Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of
civil government with the principles of Christianity.”

Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President of the United States reaffirmed this
truth when he wrote, “The foundations of our society and our government rest
so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support
them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in
our country.”

In 1782, the United States Congress voted this resolution: “The Congress of
the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools.”

William Holmes McGuffey is the author of the McGuffey Reader, which was used
for over 100 years in our public schools with over 125 million copies sold
until it was stopped in 1963. President Lincoln called him the “Schoolmaster
of the Nation.” Listen to these words of Mr. McGuffey: “The Christian
religion is the religion of our country. From it are derived our notions on
the character of God, on the great moral Governor of the universe. On its
doctrines are founded the peculiarities of our free institutions. From no
source has the author drawn more conspicuously than from the sacred
Scriptures. For all these extracts from the Bible I make no apology.”

Of the first 108 universities founded in America, 106 were distinctly
Christian, including the first, Harvard University, chartered in 1636. In
the original Harvard Student Handbook, rule number 1 was that students
seeking entrance must know Latin and Greek so that they could study the
scriptures: “Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed
to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is, to know God and
Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3; and therefore to lay Jesus
Christ as the only foundation for our children to follow the moral
principles of the Ten Commandments.”

James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of the United States,
said this: “We have staked the whole future of our new nation not upon the
power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our
political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern
ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments.”

Today, we are asking God to bless America. But, how can He bless a Nation that has
departed so far from Him? Prior to September 11, He was not welcome in
America and is still unwelcome in all of our public schools.

Most of what you read in this article has been erased from our textbooks.
Revisionists have rewritten history to remove the truth about our country’s
Christian roots. We must not let it be removed from our minds.
