The Middle East

The Middle East and Jesus 2nd Coming…

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

Jesus is Coming Again! World events continue to keep a focus on the Middle East which reminds us of His return. Some interesting items of note about the Middle East;

1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq.

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac’s wife Rebecca is from Nahor, which is in Iraq.

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh – which is in Iraq.

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

12. Daniel was in the lion’s den in Iraq!

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the “writing on the wall” in Iraq.

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

17. The wise men were from Iraq.

18. Peter preached in Iraq.

19. The “Empire of Man” described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated to it than Iraq. Isn’t it interesting where the focus of our age is? With all the turmoil around keep in mind….

John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Black and White TV…

(For the older folks. You youngsters, unfortunately, may not understand. You will have to google some of the names)

But pay attention to the 2nd half.

You could hardly see for all the snow –
spread the rabbit ears as far as they would go,
pull up a chair to the TV set,
hear a “good night, David – good night, Chet.”

Depending’ on the channel you tuned,
you got Rob and Laura, or Ward and June.
It felt so good, felt so right
life looked better in black and white.

I love Lucy, the real McCoys,
Dennis the menace, the Cleaver boys,
Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train,
Superman, Father Knows Best and Lois Lane,
life looked better in black and white.

I wanna go back to black and white, everything always turned out right.
Simple people, simple lives, good guys always won the fights.
Now nothin’s the way it seems
in living color on the screen –
I wanna go back to black and white.

In God they trusted, in their bed they slept –
a promise made was a promise kept.
They never cussed or broke their vows,
they’d never make the networks now.
But if I could I’d rather be in a TV town in ’63.
Life looked better in black and white.

I’d trade all the channels on the Satellite
if I could just turn back the clock tonight
to when most everybody knew wrong from right.
Yes, oh yes, “life was better in black and white.”

It is true that sin existed in black and white TV days also. So for that portion of the poem it is incorrect. But I believe that our country and world have opened themselves up to sin more so in our modern age and the enemy seems to be much busier. The proof is that in the black and white TV days we could pray in school, marriage was between a man and a woman and murder of the child in the womb was murder and so much more. While our world deteriorates before our eyes we can take comfort in;

Mal 3:6a “For I am the Lord, I do not change…”

These are signs that…

John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

So, our course of action is not to complain but to…..

Luke 9:23 “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

Philip. 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

One final reminder…

I Peter 5:9-11 “Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Want to be Content…

Want to be Content…

Our lives are spent attempting to find peace and contentment. Our world tells us that it comes by having money, health, fame, position and on and on. Our world never mentions a relationship with God as the primary way to contentment. Do you ever wonder why that would be?

II Cor 4:3, 4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.”

Are you content and at peace with all things in your life? No, I mean actually content??????????

And of course there is one thing in your life that should never bring peace. It’s called sin and that sin keeps us from real peace and contentment.

I Tim 6:6-10a “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…”

Contentment starts with right priorities!!!!!!!

Mat 6:33 “But seek you first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness…”

Phil 4:7, 8 “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Convicting isn’t it? How do I know? I speak from continuing experiences!!!!!!

Today is a great day to start a change of priorities.

Luke 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

Real Family Love and Drugs…

Real Family Love and Drugs…

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when his is old he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 15:10 “Correction is grievous unto him that forsakes the way:
and he that hates reproof shall die.”

Proverbs 13:24 “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.”

Is it not amazing that most of God’s truths are 180 degrees different than our what we hear in our world. I wonder why that is?

2 Corinthians 4:3,4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

A Real Servant…

John 15:20 “Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.”

We received word that Paul Ciniraj, a Pastor in India had been attacked and severely beaten by militant Hindus. The Hindu Nationalists have long been known for their violent resistance to anything threatening their dominance. Pastor Paul was hospitalized and it was determined that his head injuries would require extensive treatment. He began recovery and was released from the hospital. Recently we received a follow-up message from his wife and thought it good to share the Lord’s blessing with our readership.

“Today was a miracle. Five men came to visit my husband. They from Panamvilla village.  First this month they beaten my husband. Prayer hall they burned. They beaten believers.  But last week one man’s daughter shocked from lightning thunder. She in hospital. Now also unconscious. Another man’s house burned from same lightning thunder. Saw this another man’s wife became mad. So a Hindu astrologer told go ask God’s man forgiveness. So from 130 miles away they came. First they afraid see my husaband. They stood outside gate. See them I and children afraid. Because we not knew why they came. Our doubt again they came disturb us. But my husband went to gate said enter home. They all cried. They said sorry. They repent. About Jesus my husband told. Why Jesus crucified my husband told. How Jesus risen he said. Full Gospel he taught.  Five hours they with us. They kneel down. They accepted Jesus their Savior. They said by mouth Jesus only their savior. They all saved. To their head my husband put hands prayed. We together prayed. We ate lunch with them. Then they went. Praise God. We happy.  God open doors. Glory His name. Again I thank your prayers. My children Besly, Hepzy, Lesly say greetings. They pray you all.”

Never forget that;

John 3:3 “Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again”

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

What I Learned from Noah’s Ark…

What I Learned from Noah’s Ark!

I Cor 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

“All I need to know I learned from Noah’s Ark”

1.)  Don’t miss the boat.

2.)  Remember that we are all in the same boat.

3.)  Plan ahead.  It was not raining when Noah built the boat.

4.)  Stay fit.  When you are 600 years old you may be asked to do something really big.

5.)  Don’t listen to critics.  Just get on with the job that needs to be done.

6.)  Build your future on high ground and of course on the Rock (Jesus)…

7.)  For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.

8.)  Speed is not always an advantage.  The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

9.)  When you are stressed, float awhile.

10.)  Remember the Ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic by professionals.

11.) Noah did not have the book of Romans to help explain his commitment but his biggest accomplishment was that he;

Romans 12:1,2 “I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service; And be not conformed to this world, but be you transformed by the  renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and perfect, will of God.”

How is your presentation and renewal this morning?????

Our reasonable service! Think on that one for just a minute and then thank Jesus!!!!!

Just WHY am I on this Earth…

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Why am I on this Earth….

Just why am I here on this earth at this time? Have you ever asked yourself that question?  Is the reason deeper than obtaining as many toys and things as I can and maintaining an acceptable level of physical comfort?  I do believe we are all here on this earth, at this time, in this place, for a reason. With the Born Again believer there is no such thing as luck and chance. That being the case, what are my options and what is my purpose for these few years of eternit?

In 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 the Holy Spirit using Paul as the scribe to record God’s truths asks a similar question to get us thinking;  “What is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.” Paul was thinking ahead to the day when his race or life on this earth would be over and he would step into the next phase of eternity. That being when he would be in heaven celebrating the lasting legacy of his life by worshiping the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

He anticipated crossing the finish line to heaven and celebrating being there. First with Jesus, whose death and resurrection got him there, and then, with all those who are there (at least in part) because you helped to rescue them. As the song goes, “I can only imagine”, what that will be like. Will we stand in His presence to give Him all the glory, will we kneel, and will we be prostate on the ground? One thing is for sure; even those who do not recognize who God is will one day give account to Him.

As ‘Born Again’ believers you may have done what your Bible said to do: “Snatch others from the fire and save them” (Jude 23) while performing Mat 4:19 “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men”. You weren’t content to just get out of the burning wreckage of sin yourself. You had a burden and you recognized the command to help those around you make it, too. That’s going to make heaven even sweeter. Or is it?

As you look at the legacy of your life so far, do you see many people that you have pointed to Jesus? Can you see some folks who will be in heaven because you were part of helping them understand God’s love and His Son’s sacrifice for their sinfulness? How many people understand what Jesus did on the cross for them because you explained it to them? Have you been to some funerals, and looked into the casket and asked yourself, “Why didn’t I tell them about Jesus while there was still time?”

You can’t have any of those days back. But you do have the remainder of your days on this earth. And you can decide what kind of a difference you want to make with the rest of your life. I hope it’s to help as many people be in heaven with you as possible, to give as many people a chance at being rescued by Jesus as you can. Much of what we do and accomplish here will not mean anything, even one moment after our last breath. Moths rust and death will destroy our worldly accomplishments. Those hobbies, houses, vehicles, etc will all pass away into nothingness. But there’s one thing you can do that will last forever, and that is help someone else live forever by showing them Jesus.

The prophet Daniel described that day when “multitudes that sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.” Then he describes the ultimate legacy: “Those who … lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:2-3). Why? Because they’ll be celebrating forever with people whose lives they rescued.

My prayer of us is that we may shine…………….

Matthew 4:19 “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

If you are not a ‘born again’ believer check out Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8 and 10:13 and Acts 16:31 it is the only way to have real purpose in this life!

Real Leaders are Servants First…

Real Leaders are Servants First……

Would you like to be the leader of the pack? In our world leaders are not usually graded by how well they serve. They typically are promoted based on their capability to make their company profitable and lead the employees to that goal. I find it so interesting that many of the ways and thoughts of our world are 180 degrees opposite of God’s ways and thoughts. But then I am reminded of a verse from the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament.

Isa 55:8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.”

Jesus truly taught us what it means to be a Godly leader vs. a worldly leader.

Mat 20:26-28 “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever DESIRES to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you; let him be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served; BUT TO SERVE, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Mat 10:24 “A disciple is not above his Teacher, nor a servant above his Master”

So why the big difference between our worlds requirements for being a good leader and God’s requirements? The answer is simple when you understand who is setting the requirements of our world’s leaders.

II Cor 4:3, 4 “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

If you are saved (born again), your life caused our Savior Jesus, the ultimate Servant, His life!!!! We can have no better reason to serve.

I Cor 6:20 “For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your Spirit, WHICH ARE GOD’S.”

So again, would you like to be the leader of the pack?? Remember, Jesus taught us how!!

So, let’s get going and serve Jesus…………..!

Continuous Spiritual Education…

Continuous Spiritual Education!

What are your plans for continuous spiritual education? Even the secular business world understands the importance of continuous educational improvement. Whether we are adults or children we are being taught daily. When we stop learning our intelligence starts to regress. It is just like our muscles. If we do not use them we lose them.

We are taught in the home, from the media, from the neighborhood, in our schools, from our government, everywhere we turn someone wants us to teach us their values. How about the most important lesson book we can learn and live by. Did you pick it up this morning or anytime this week or month? Listen to where real truth and absolute truth comes from.

Only one education major has eternal significance!!

Joshua 1:8,9 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate in it DAY AND NIGHT, that you may observe to do all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

If that is true, and of course it is, then it makes sense that we would…

II Tim 2:15 “STUDY to show yourselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

When is the last time you truly studied the scriptures?

If it seems foolish to you to spend time in the Bible you want to heed the following verse. It says that if scripture is foolish to you then you are not a part of God’s family.

1 Cor 2:14 “But the natural (unsaved) man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

And if you are outside of God’s family then your eternal destiny is;

Revelation 20:11-15 “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

You can make sure your name is in the book by following the following course of action. There is no time like the present to earn your degree!

Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 10:13

When you Force it, you Break it…

Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:  wait, I say, on the Lord.”

Here is another good example for us. And by the way I relate extremely well to Ron on this one.  I have a long history of breaking things due to impatience. It has gotten better over time due to learning from painful experiences but wouldn’t it have been great to have done it right from square one? This principle involves many chapters in my life. Many not so good chapters.

“When You Force it, you break it”

Our friends were kind enough to loan my wife and me their second home, a camper, where we could get away for a couple of days. When you’re in somebody else’s home, you have to be on your good behavior, like make sure you don’t break anything, leave it as you found it. I was having a little difficulty getting the front door unjammed, uh, unlocked I guess, and my wife said, “What are you doing?” And I jokingly said, “Well, I couldn’t get it unlocked, so I’m just forcing it open.” She said, “No, no, no, no, don’t do that.” Now there’s a reason we had that little dialogue. She panicked right away because, well, she knows my history.

If I was trying to force it open, I would probably break it. Oh, I did get out okay, but she knows I have this tendency to try to make things work if they don’t want to work. I sometimes get impatient with things that don’t work quickly. In fact, I’ve been known to force a door handle and break it. There have been a couple of occasions where I have forced a tool, and I broke it. You will probably never lend me anything. I’ve tried to force a lock, and I broke it. I’ve tried to force other things, and they broke too.

“When You Force it, You Break it.”

We are reminded from God’s word of the danger of forcing things to meet our perceived solutions. Genesis 16:1 that says, “Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar; so she said to Abram, ‘The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her.'” Verse 4 says, “He slept with Hagar, and she conceived.” Now here’s the history. Abram and Sarai had been promised a son by God. They had to wait longer than they thought they would have to wait. Apparently, it wasn’t working, so guess what Abram tried to do? He said, “Hey, let’s force it. I got an idea. We’ll help God out.” Here’s a new verb: “to Hagar.” You say wait, wait, isn’t Hagar like a name? Isn’t that the name of this maidservant; this surrogate mother? Well actually, it is a noun, but, “to Hagar,” well, that’s a verb. It means to try and make it happen. If you force it – take it from the expert – you break it.

Thirteen years after Abram and Sarai tried to force what God had promised the son God promised came along- Isaac. Now they have a 13-year-old Ishmael on their hands, too. And those two boys were in constant conflict. They’re still in conflict today. It’s called the Arabs and the Jews descended from Ishmael and Isaac. And the great wars of the world may still be fought over that conflict. All of this happened simply because Abram couldn’t wait for God to do it His way and in His time. How easy that is to do.

Right now, maybe there’s something in your life that isn’t working as you thought it should. Maybe the romance isn’t there. Maybe you need to help God out a little bit, you think. Maybe the money isn’t there and you need to figure out a way to help God with it. Maybe the future isn’t working out the way you want it to. So, you’re just going to try to make things happen. Please, don’t Hagar. Don’t force it. Hagar is a verb. Don’t grab a wrong way to get a right thing done. You’ll pay for that mistake for a long, long time.

Four thousand years later, people are still paying for Abraham’s “Hagar Solution.” Look, are you trying to rush it right now? Are you trying to force it? Are you trying to make things happen instead of watching God do it? Would you let go before you break it, and let God make it work when He knows that it’s time.

Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”
