Fear or Faith…it’s my choice…

Mat 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Fear or Faith…it’s my choice…

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth’s rite of Passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone.

He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.

He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm

The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man!

Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm. We, too, are never alone.

Even when we don’t know it, God is watching over us, sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

Heb 13:5 “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

That’s Terrible…

That’s Terrible….

Many times we find it easy to point out the flaws in the lives of others.  From personal experience I have found that the reason I may see the faults of others so easily is many times because it is a fault I have and have not recognized or accepted that I have it.  Our God as with all areas of our lives provides some valuable advice;

Mat 7:3 “And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye.”

To all my faults my eyes are blind;
Mine are the sins I cannot find;
But your mistakes I see aplenty;
For them my eyes are 20/20.

Mat 7:2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it shall be measured to you…”

The lesson of this truth from God’s word is that we should first check out our own faults and correct them before we can attempt to help others do the same………

Abortion, Children and God…

With another new year comes the result that Roe vs Wade has assisted in the death of

In America alone?? MILLION lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  3,300 children die each day

You will not find the word fetus in God’s vocabulary found in the Bible. Why is that? Just how does our Lord view the child in the womb and even before the womb?

Caution: God at Work!!

Psalm 139:13-15a “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your  works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was  made in secret…”

An example of God designing a purpose for lives BEFORE they are born.

Note, God calls them twins, not a pair of fetuses.

Rom 9:11 “For though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or  bad, so that God’s purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls.”

A step further. A design for life even before conception.

Jer 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Other passages;        Ex 21:22

Ecc 11:5

Mat 1:18

Lk 1:41 & 2:21

Gen 25:21-24

Psa 22:9

The emotional arguments have swayed many a mind but you never justify sinning based on the removal or the results of another sin. The end does not justify the means.

So, what can I do? First of all be aware that abortion at any stage and for any reason goes against God’s will and then pray for individual and national forgiveness. The next steps are up His leading in your life. But remember the first church did not spend its valuable time attacking the terribly Godless Roman government. Remember while we are to pray for its end and be the salt and light of our Godless world and nation we are first and foremost to;

Mat 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

Seniors Song of Praise…

Romans 14:11 “For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee
shall bow to Me. And every tongue shall confess to God.’ “

How great it is to bow to Jesus and recognize His eternal gift to us.

Seniors Song of Praise

Jesus loves me, this I know
though my hair is white as snow
though my sight is growing dim
Still He bids me trust in him.

(CHORUS) YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES. JESUS LOVES ME
THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh so slow
with my hand in his I’ll go
on through life, let come what may
He’ll be there to lead the way
(chorus)

Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He’s begun
Let me serve Christ with a smile
Go with other’s the “extra mile”
(chorus)

When the nights are dark and long,
in my heart he puts a song,
telling me in words so clear,
“Have not fear, for I am near.”
(chorus)

When my work on earth is done,
and life’s victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
and then I’ll understand his love
(chorus)

I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say
that I love Him every day.

(LAST CHORUS)
Yes, I love Jesus,
Yes, I love Jesus,
Yes, I love Jesus
I tell Him when I pray.

God Bless All

I Sam 16:7b “The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man
looks at the outward  appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

One Sacrifice is Acceptable for Sin…

One Sacrifice is Acceptable for Sin….

Satan’s biggest lie is that we are good enough to work off the penalty we place upon ourselves when we sin. The book of Romans and other passages of scripture note that the penalty is spiritual and physical death (Rom 3:23, 6:23) The most urgent question for each of us should be. Can I atone for my sins or does it take someone other than me to make atonement for my sins?

Isaiah 64:6 “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The lie that we can work off our sins has another wrinkle. Maybe some organization or church can do it for me. What does God say?

Heb 10:11,12,14 “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God. For by ONE offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”

Another lie is that we must have someone to go between us and God when we ask for forgiveness of our sins. Again, what does God say? Who is the Mediator for me to go through to reach God to obtain forgiveness for my sins?

I Tim 2:5 “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

The question of the ages is whether the church or my deeds can replace the sacrifice needed to wipe my sins away.

II Cor 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Eph 2:8,9 “For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone would boast.”

Have you first recognized your sin and then Who are you trusting in this morning for forgiveness of those sins?

Jesus is coming a 2nd time…are you ready…

Jesus is coming a 2nd time….are you ready…

Did you know that we are in the last times or days before Jesus 2nd coming! Jesus first came as a Lamb to pay the sacrifice for our sins, so we can accept Him as Lord and Savior and restore that broken fellowship with God that our sins caused.  At His 2nd coming He will come as a Lion to put an end to sin, satan and death as this world knows it.

In scripture we see that the first church thought Jesus would return during their lifetime. We are now 2000 years closer to His second coming. Just before His return our world will go through judgments caused by our sinfulness.

Heb 1:1,2a “God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…”

Rev 1:17-19 “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. 19 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.”

There are 3 series of 7 judgments just prior to Jesus return with each series causing death and destruction like our world has never seen.  That time is called the Tribulation. When you study the last book of Bible, Revelation, you see that ½ to ¾ of mankind will die during the judgments that come upon the earth. Destruction upon our earth will be like none ever seen by mankind. All because of sin. The mountains are leveled, the islands gone, worldwide earthquakes and disaster so great our minds cannot picture it. A loving and patient God today continues to give us time to turn to Him which is the only way to avoid future judgments. They come upon mankind because of sin and the rejection of God. Jesus, name above all names| He alone is worthy!!!!!!!!!!

He is able to reveal and perform the events of the last days|

Rev 5:2,3&9 “Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice,
‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose the seals?’ And no one in
heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll,

or to look at it. And they sang a new song, saying, ‘You are worthy to
take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have
redeemed us to God BY YOUR BLOOD out of every tribe and tongue and
nation.’ “

Have you been redeemed or ‘born again’ as scripture says? Are you walking in His power? Only by being ‘born again’ can we and our families avoid the judgment for sin.

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Col 1:13,14 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and
translated us into the Kingdom of His love, in whom we have redemption
THROUGH HIS BLOOD, the forgiveness of sins.”

This may be your time today. Confess your sins directly to God and He will forgive you and make you one of His children.

I Tim 2:5, 6a “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all,”

What God won’t ask when….

Phil 4:11b “…for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.”

What God won’t ask when . . .

God won’t ask what kind of car you drove, but He’ll ask how many
people you drove who didn’t have transportation.

God won’t ask the square footage of
your house, but He’ll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

God won’t ask about the clothes you had in your closet, but
He’ll ask how many you helped to clothe.

God won’t ask what your highest salary was, but He’ll ask if you
compromised your character to obtain it.

God won’t ask what your job title was, but He’ll ask if you
performed your job to the best of our ability.

God won’t ask how many friends you
had, but He’ll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

God won’t ask in what neighborhood
you lived, but He’ll ask how you treated your neighbors.

God won’t ask about the color of your
skin, but He’ll ask about the content of your character.

And the most important question God won’t ask…

God won’t ask how many good things you did or what church
you belonged to for your Salvation, but He will ask if you accepted

Jesus sacrifice for your sins………..

Romans 14:12 “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.”

Phil 4:11b “…for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.”
