The Middle East and Jesus 2nd Coming…

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

Jesus is Coming Again! World events continue to keep a focus on the Middle East which reminds us of His return. Some interesting items of note about the Middle East;

1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq.

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac’s wife Rebecca is from Nahor, which is in Iraq.

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh – which is in Iraq.

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

12. Daniel was in the lion’s den in Iraq!

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the “writing on the wall” in Iraq.

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

17. The wise men were from Iraq.

18. Peter preached in Iraq.

19. The “Empire of Man” described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated to it than Iraq. Isn’t it interesting where the focus of our age is? With all the turmoil around keep in mind…..

John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

 Rev 22:20-21 “He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.  Amen.”

You make the Choice….

You make the Choice!

Each day we make decisions. Those decisions are based on the philosophies and priorities that we embrace. The world bombards us with its philosophies as to what is right and what is wrong. Our Lord placed His truths found in the bible with us also so we would be able to please and follow Him, if we so desire.

The question every day is, which will we follow?

Which direction will you choose?  Listen to some of the priorities of our world and what God says about them;

World = I have my rights! I deserve. I am a good person.
God = Jesus paid His life as the price for our sins. If we are His, we
do not have individual rights but we have a choice to let Jesus
control our lives and bring glory to God through our lives!
I Cor 6:20, Isa 64:6, Rom 3:10

World = Trust your instincts!
God = Have no confidence in self and the flesh! Phil 3:3

World = Pride in yourself in mandatory to feel good about yourself!
God = Pride comes before the fall and brings destruction! Prov 16:18

World = Speak boldly of your accomplishments!
God = Humble yourself and God will exalt you in His time! I Peter 5:5-7

World = You are good!
God = There are none good, no, not one! Rom 3:10, Isa 64:6
As a ‘born again’ believer I am special because of Jesus in me! II Cor 5:17

World = Strength in self brings security!
God = When I am weak and I rely on His strength, then Jesus is my
strength and my security and then I am strong! II Cor 12:9

World = Find yourself and be true to yourself!
God = Find your ministry that Jesus designed for only you & be true to Him.
I Cor 12:31 & 14:1 Grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus. II Pet 3:18

World = Believe in yourself!
God = Do not trust in yourself; trust in Jesus doing all things through your life by His power! Phil 4:13

World = Hard times should not happen to me, I deserve better!
God = If I am a believer, hard times when not the result of sin, are designed to
mold me in Jesus image and to glorify God, not me! Rom 8:28, James 1:2, 3

World = Live life with gusto while you can!
God = Live today with the surety of the Kingdom of God that tomorrow will bring!
I Thes 5 & Rev 19, 20, 21, 22

World = Fear comes from within, you can control it!
God = Only the fear of God is good. Fear does not come from God, it comes from the flesh and may reflect the level of our faith and or maturity! II Tim 1:17

World = There is no hell and eternal punishment!
God = the wages of sin is spiritual and physical death. Rom 6:23, Gen 3

World = If there is a heaven I will get there by my deeds, family spiritual heritage and church affiliation.
God = only by trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus is eternal life possible. Rom 5:8, Titus 3:5, John 3:16

So you make the choice…………….and please do not be spiritually laze and not look up the verse! That first of all is your choice!

So, what did you choose?

Joshua 24:15 “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites (where you live), in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Are Angels for Real….

Are Angels for Real…..

In our world today the concept of what and who are God’s angels is vastly misrepresented. We see them as fluffy little beings that our world creates figurines of to place on our bookshelves but scripture tells us a very different story. That is not surprising because satan is the god of this world for a moment in time and he actively seeks to distort God’s truths. Angels and their purpose from God is one of those truths. Fortunately God’s truths are absolute and never change so we go to His word to find out about angels and God’s purpose for them… As we research Angels in scripture we see them always worshiping our God and we see them as protectors for ‘born again’ believers and warriors for God. Vastly different images than portrayed by our world.

There is a spiritual war going on all around us that is not visible and not seen as real by our world. It is the war between light and darkness or good and evil and everyone is in one camp or the other. There is no middle ground. Satan is the prince of darkness and evil and actively fights against the light. We are to be warriors actively being salt and light and exposing sin in our world. To aid us in the fight God sends His angels as protectors.

One of the best examples I’ve heard is when a man approached Pastor John Hagee while he was preaching. The man walked up the podium and stood 8 foot away from Pastor Hagee with a revolver loaded with 8 bullets. He emptied the gun at Pastor Hagee from 8 foot away. 4 bullets went to the left of him and 4 to the right of him. Pastor Hagee gives the testimony that God had his angel steer those bullets. So there is no misinterpretation while our guardian angel can also do that there are times when it is God’s will to allow martyrdom for some of His children as they lift up His name. According to scripture many will die and are dying for the faith. We must always be open to God’s will for our lives understanding that His ways and thoughts are different than our ways and thoughts (Isa 55:8). Jesus gave the most powerful example when just before the crucifixion while He was in the garden He said;

Mat 26:42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”

Pastor Hagee’s experience reminds and encourages us that no one and no event can harm us without God’s allowing it. Our life while on this earth is to be;

Mat 5:13-16″You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

The following are some biblical examples of angels;

  • Psalm 91:11 God gives His angels charge over us or sends them as protectors. There is not better health plan than that!
  • Daniel 6:22 God’s angels shut the mouths of the lions to protect Daniel and He can do the same today.
  • Daniel 12:1 Michael the arch angel will have the task of tossing satan out of heaven. Angels are warriors’ not fluffy little creatures.
  • Luke 1:26-35 An angel was sent to Mary to help her to be not afraid and to understand what a great blessing to our world God was doing.
  • Revelation 1:1 God sent an Angel to tell John what will happen to our world during the tribulation period and what to record so we have God’s truths.
  • Acts 27:21-25 An Angel appeared to Paul and told him not to be afraid of the storm that threatened his life and lives of those aboard the boat he was on while being sent to a Roman prison where he was appointed by God to be a witness for Him.
  • I Chron 21:15 God sent one of His angels to destroy Jerusalem and stopped the angel from totally doing so. It was as a judgment because of the unfaithfulness of God’s people. One angel is as strong as an army.

Nothing can touch us without God’s allowing or designing it to. There is so much more in scripture about how God uses angels. Look them up for yourself and be blessed.

I John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

 CAUTION! All Honor and Praise must always go to God and never any man, woman, angel or any other object. The angels also provide that reminder.

 Rev 22:8, 9 “Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.

Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation….

I Thes 5:16-18 “Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing,
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation!

Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation created a reference point for a country in the midst of civil war and urged citizens to pause and give thanks for its blessings. That proclamation continues to serve us well during times of uncertainty. It concludes like this:

“I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November as a day of a Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.

And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascription’s justly due to Him for such singular deliverance’s and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony and tranquility and Union.”

Psalm 118:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good;
because His mercy endures forever.”

Who can I Give Thanks to….

Proverbs 3:21 “My son, let them not depart from your eyes- Keep sound wisdom and discretion.”

Who can I Give Thanks to…?

Shall I thank God at this Thanksgiving and all year long? Why was I born at this particular time in the history of the world? Why was I born in a spotless delivery room in an American hospital instead of a steaming shelter in the dank jungle of the Amazon or a mud hut in Africa? Why did

I have the privilege of going to school with capable instructors while millions around the world, without a school book, sit or squat on a dirt floor listening to a missionary?

How does it happen that my children are tucked into warm beds at night with clean white sheets while millions of babies in the world will lie in cold rooms, many in their own filth and vomit? Why can I sit down to a warm meal whenever I want to and eat too much when millions will know all of their lives the gnawing pangs of hunger? Do I deserve to share in such wealth? Why me and not other millions?

Why was I born in a land I didn’t build, in a prosperity that I didn’t create and enjoy a freedom that I didn’t establish?

Why am I an American sitting comfortably in my own living room this Thanksgiving rather than an Indian squatting in the dark corner of some infested alley in Calcutta, shivering in the cold, or a Cambodian in the rubble of what used to be my home, or a terrified, running Nicaraguan in the jungle, or wondering if I will be alive for tomorrow in Afghanistan or Syria?

Do I deserve it? By what right do I have it?”

I Peter 2:3 “if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

GIVE THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rev. 7:12 “Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God forever and ever. Amen.”

Give Thanks to the Holy One….

I Thes 5:16-18 “Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Give Thanks to the Holy One….

The following is something to ponder:

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof
overhead and a place to sleep … you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness … you are more blessed than
the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the
agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation… you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death … you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married … you are very rare, even in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful … you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the
shoulder … you are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone
was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people
in the world that cannot read at all.

Have a good day and count your blessings…and more importantly praise the One who
provided them………

“Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today….
“It’s already tomorrow in Australia!”

Charles Schultz

According to scripture we will have a new heaven and new earth after the Millennium period of time. Are you ready…..?

Rev 21:1-3 “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”

 John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Psalm 118:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good; because His mercy endures forever.”

God’s Mercies are New Every Day – Give Thanks….

Psalm 118:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good; because His mercy endures forever.”

God’s Mercies are New Every Day – Give Thanks…..

Thanksgiving week is here and for the believer, this time of the year has special meaning. Our Lord said.

Psalm 118:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good; because His mercy endures forever.”

This is one of the hallelujah Psalms that was a part of the Passover celebration. For Israel, this was thanksgiving for deliverance from Egypt and death at the first Passover. All believers are to be marked by a spirit of thankfulness, all the time, not just on Thanksgiving Day.

May I suggest that this Thanksgiving you ought to be thankful that we already have Thanksgiving!  Think of the difficulty we would most certainly face today in trying to start a day of national thanksgiving to God for His bountiful blessings like the Pilgrims did in 1621. It might be impossible! And surely would be a political war when you express Who you are giving thanks to.

The first thanksgiving feast was held in a public place and the A.C.L.U. and People for the American way, who consider themselves the self-proclaimed protectors from all things religious, would certainly object. The menu would even present greater conflicts, with so many turkeys, deer and other animals prepared for eating.

The original Thanksgiving holiday lasted three days. Given all these factors and most importantly given Who is our God and what He means to our lives, we ought to first be thankful for all the blessings from God and then be thankful that we have a day set aside in our nation for giving thanks. Based on current state of affairs if we tried to do it over again, we might not succeed.

I trust that your Thanksgiving Day will be a blessed time of reflecting again on the gracious goodness of God and for His mercies that are new every day.

Remember to stop before you dig into that meal and GIVE THANKS!!!!!

I Thes 5:16-18 “Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
