You make the Choice….

You make the Choice!

Each day we make decisions. Those decisions are based on the philosophies and priorities that we embrace. The world bombards us with its philosophies as to what is right and what is wrong. Our Lord placed His truths found in the bible with us also so we would be able to please and follow Him, if we so desire.

The question every day is, which will we follow?

Which direction will you choose?  Listen to some of the priorities of our world and what God says about them;

World = I have my rights! I deserve. I am a good person.
God = Jesus paid His life as the price for our sins. If we are His, we
do not have individual rights but we have a choice to let Jesus
control our lives and bring glory to God through our lives!
I Cor 6:20, Isa 64:6, Rom 3:10

World = Trust your instincts!
God = Have no confidence in self and the flesh! Phil 3:3

World = Pride in yourself in mandatory to feel good about yourself!
God = Pride comes before the fall and brings destruction! Prov 16:18

World = Speak boldly of your accomplishments!
God = Humble yourself and God will exalt you in His time! I Peter 5:5-7

World = You are good!
God = There are none good, no, not one! Rom 3:10, Isa 64:6
As a ‘born again’ believer I am special because of Jesus in me! II Cor 5:17

World = Strength in self brings security!
God = When I am weak and I rely on His strength, then Jesus is my
strength and my security and then I am strong! II Cor 12:9

World = Find yourself and be true to yourself!
God = Find your ministry that Jesus designed for only you & be true to Him.
I Cor 12:31 & 14:1 Grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus. II Pet 3:18

World = Believe in yourself!
God = Do not trust in yourself; trust in Jesus doing all things through your life by His power! Phil 4:13

World = Hard times should not happen to me, I deserve better!
God = If I am a believer, hard times when not the result of sin, are designed to
mold me in Jesus image and to glorify God, not me! Rom 8:28, James 1:2, 3

World = Live life with gusto while you can!
God = Live today with the surety of the Kingdom of God that tomorrow will bring!
I Thes 5 & Rev 19, 20, 21, 22

World = Fear comes from within, you can control it!
God = Only the fear of God is good. Fear does not come from God, it comes from the flesh and may reflect the level of our faith and or maturity! II Tim 1:17

World = There is no hell and eternal punishment!
God = the wages of sin is spiritual and physical death. Rom 6:23, Gen 3

World = If there is a heaven I will get there by my deeds, family spiritual heritage and church affiliation.
God = only by trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus is eternal life possible. Rom 5:8, Titus 3:5, John 3:16

So you make the choice…………….and please do not be spiritually laze and not look up the verse! That first of all is your choice!

So, what did you choose?

Joshua 24:15 “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites (where you live), in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Give Thanks to the Holy One….

I Thes 5:16-18 “Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Give Thanks to the Holy One….

The following is something to ponder:

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof
overhead and a place to sleep … you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness … you are more blessed than
the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the
agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation… you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death … you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married … you are very rare, even in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful … you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the
shoulder … you are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone
was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people
in the world that cannot read at all.

Have a good day and count your blessings…and more importantly praise the One who
provided them………

“Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today….
“It’s already tomorrow in Australia!”

Charles Schultz

According to scripture we will have a new heaven and new earth after the Millennium period of time. Are you ready…..?

Rev 21:1-3 “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Psalm 118:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good; because His mercy endures forever.”

CHRISTians Gone and I’m Left Behind….

Matthew 24:42a “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come…”

Christians Gone and I’m Left Behind….

“I didn’t expect you to come this soon!?”

The Bible tells us that many people are going to respond the same way when Jesus comes back at His second coming. They won’t be ready, and they’re going to say, “I didn’t expect You to come this soon.” Or maybe, “I didn’t expect You at all.” I hope that won’t be us.

Unfortunately, most of our world is not ready to see Jesus. And most of our world, if asked today would say that Jesus return is nowhere on their radar scope of probable events. Most Bible scholars believe that the world we are living in today looks more like the kind of world Jesus said He would return to than it has before. Look at events in the Middle East, in Europe, natural disasters, the move to one world religion, the move to a one world currency, the development of the European Union, the nation of Israel and its continuing pains. The “Left Behind” series of novels about the end times has dominated best-seller lists with each new release. Well, in our kind of world, people can sense almost instinctively that something big is coming – even that Jesus is coming.

And whether or not He returns to earth in three months or 300 years, He is for sure going to come for you and me some day – when our life is over. That is a promise for believers but those not trusting in Him will have their day in court or their Judgment seat. And there’s only one way to be ready for Jesus and that is to have every sin you’ve ever committed forgiven by God. That’s possible only one way – by pinning all your hopes on the One who died to pay for your sin. John 3:36 makes it very clear: “Whoever believes in the Son
(that’s Jesus) has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” You can reject Jesus simply by doing nothing. And believing in Him means you’ve told Him you’re placing your total trust in
Him as your Rescuer from your sin.

If you’ve never done that, you’re not ready to see Jesus. If you have you still may not be ready based on your commitment to serving the King of Kings. Those not trusting in Him will be fearful of His return because it means their
judgment seat for eternity draws close. There can be no opportunity of spending eternity with Christ in heaven without believing in Him and placing your faith in Him.

If you are a believer in Christ your eternal security is exactly that, it is eternally secured. But you may find His return occurring while your service for Him is not at its best. There is still time to deny yourself, take up your cross (ministry for Him) daily and to follow Him (Mat 16:24).

Jesus will not announce His coming – either back to earth or our meeting with Him when our heart beats for the last time. It’s important to be ready. Because once He comes, it’s too late.

Why not be sure of where you will spend eternity today (Rom 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, and 10:13).

And if you have trusted in Christ, why not be sure you will not be ashamed at
His coming today!!!

Matthew 24:42-44 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.”

Do I have a Spiritual Gift

If you are not a ‘born again’ believer who has done some studying of Spiritual Gifts in the scriptures this morning’s encouragement and/or challenge will be foreign to you. Actually many believers are not aware of what our Savior says about the spiritual gifts we have been entrusted with and directed to use to lift up His name. Please read on and see how the Holy Spirit challenges you.

I Cor 12:1 “…now concerning Spiritual Gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant.”

Do I have a Spiritual Gift

Everyone loves a free gift. Jesus is the ultimate free gift. With His gift of salvation He has asked each believer to serve Him and His Church. The Church contains all those in this world who are trusting in Jesus alone for their salvation.  Did you know there are no denominations mentioned in scripture?

On the topics of Spiritual Gifts Jesus gave His Church (the people) Spiritual Gifts to perform service for His glory. We do not have to walk in our own strength and wisdom which is great.  If I were attempting to serve by my strength I can assure you I would fall flat on my face. We receive that supernatural desire and Gift(s) when we are ‘born again’.  After presenting ourselves to service Jesus (Romans 12:1,2) we can then look for how God will show us what our gift(s) are and how they are to be used.

Keep in mind that at salvation you are a baby in Christ or an immature person spiritually.  Use of my Spiritual Gifts will require my commitment to use them. After committing to use them then the Holy Spirit can work to develop them in my life.  Like salvation we are never forced into using them. But it is extremely important to know that Jesus commands and desires that we do so and that it is for His glory and not ours and that no minimum level of education is required to use them.

While these Gifts may run parallel to our earthly developed skills they frequently do not. I fall into that category. My gifts did not match my earthly skills which were not many. After many years serving Jesus I am very happy they did not. I was then and remain required to place more faith in His power versus my expertise.  I once tried using one of my spiritual gifts in my own power and I fell flat on my face. The important lesson I was being taught is that as Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all through Christ who, strengthens me”.  It is never by my strength, ability or any natural or developed talent. God’s grace is sufficient for our salvation and for our service for the King. So remember when you cannot do it and you know God is asking you to, that is a great place to be in your life because you are totally dependent on Him for any success.

I Cor 12:9 “And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness, most gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Every born again believer has at least one Spiritual Gift and its purpose is to be used in the fashion Jesus intended and of course with the right attitude and motive. The only good motive for serving is because Jesus asked you to do so. You are then doing it for His glory and not yours or your family or churches.

Eph 4:7, 8 “But to each one of us (believers) grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s’ gift. Therefore He says, ‘When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.”

Have you used your gift yet???

We may serve because a leader in the Church or family member encourages or challenged us to do so but if it is not for Jesus it will not last. I remember an elderly believer once telling me that if you wait 2 to 3 years you will find out what a servants commitment really is. His point being that if it is not for Christ they most likely will no longer be in that ministry after 2 to 3 years.

It is OK to try out different ministries to see where Jesus wants you to serve and leave those He did not intend for you. But when you find the one He intended for you then stay the course, for His glory. Yes, even when those you are serving with fall away. Remember Who you are serving. That will sustain you.

The purpose for these gifts;

Eph 4:16 “…from whom the whole body (Worldwide Church), joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part (person) does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

If you are not sure of your Gift(s) the place to start is on your knees requesting wisdom and then of course, search the scriptures daily.  Below is a listing of the spiritual gifts and some help in understanding your Gift(s) to help you in your quest to obey Jesus.

Start searching the scriptures today asking the Holy Spirit to reveal to you just where and how you are to serve Jesus. The following are some scripture passages defining what the Spiritual Gifts are;

WHERE FOUND: Romans 12:6-8, Eph 4:11, I Peter 4:11, I Cor 12:6-10, I Cor 12:28- 30

Sin is still Sin….

Sin is still Sin….

We live in a world that has tried very hard to eliminate one little 3 letter word from our

Vocabulary. Why would that be?

II Cor 4:3,4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.

One of the many beauty’s of scripture is that it never grows old or changes. That is because God authored it so that all generations would have truth.

Mal 3:6 “For I, Jehovah, change not; therefore ye, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.”

It is up to us what we do with that truth. We know we are to keep God’s commandments but listen to how scripture even makes obedience to our loving God even clearer. So in scripture what is sin?

James 4:17 “Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Do you ever find yourself blaming your sin on some other person, place or thing that influenced you?

James 1:14,15 “But everyone is tempted, when they are drawn away of THEIR OWN LUST, and enticed, then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.”

There is One foundation that can help us in our battle!  But, even when we have Jesus as our foundation it takes more than words to be a disciple.

II Tim 2:19 & 22 “Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows these who are His”, and “Let everyone who names the name of Christ DEPART from iniquity.” “FLEE also youthful lusts; but PURSUE righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart”.

Check your heart and your motives on all things. God the Holy Spirit will let you know if it sin.

James 4:17″Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Are You a Veteran of the Real War….

Are You a Veteran of the Real War…..

Eph 6:12,13a “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, Against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against Spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God…”

Our country went through declared and undeclared wars that many did not and still do not either agree with or understand. Wars such as WW1, WW2, Vietnam conflict, Korean conflict,

Gulf war, Iraq, Afghanistan, current Islamic terrorist wars, etc. Some were never declared wars so they were fought without using all the means at our disposal to end them. None the less hundreds of thousands of military men and women blindly obeyed for the benefit of their country.

These brave men and women fought the fight taking it by faith that it was their duty and obligation. They did not read the constitution and then decide to enlist. Most blindly enlisted and for the most part did what were told to do. Men and women put their lives on the line and lost their lives.

Were you one of them? Did you fight a war without even understanding it? Think of it, people putting their lives on the line for something called country and duty. Why is it so easy? to accept the demands of a nation while ignoring the offer of a Savior?

Some of it has to do with the cold war that is on for souls. The enemy has many blinded into believing his doctrines.  The battle cry of the rulers of darkness controlling this world is to get people to believe that church affiliation and their life style if good enough and will give them the opportunity to get to heaven. Then satan plants doubts like having us believe that hell is not real. Or he gets them believing in self and materialism as their purpose for the years we spend on this earth which becomes our religion.

The good news is that the constitution that will never change, the Bible, holds the truth and is as relevant today as it was the day it was put on paper and is available to all.

The good news and battle cry of Jesus is that heaven is for real. Our average life span on this earth is 75 years. How short that is compared to eternity. And the good news says that His soldiers will spend eternity with Him in heaven, our future home. Yes, most who take up Jesus cause will suffer and some will even die for their Savior.

Jesus proclaims that He came to earth, lived the only sinless life ever lived because He was and is God, died for our sins, was buried and rose the third day. Today, Jesus sits at the right hand of the throne of God and makes intercession for sinners such as those of us who will accept His sacrifice for our sins and deny our ability to attain it through any other means. He is our Supreme Commander. No church, no person, no saint can do that for us.

We must simply believe and blindly obey like good soldiers. It’s called faith. Is it really easier to trust a military recruiter than Jesus?  Only a small minority, according to scripture, will trust in Jesus. How sad!

The Gospel is great news for the veteran and for everyone else. All can be a veteran of God’s war. Unfortunately most are not. The cold war for the souls of men, women and children continues today. As a believer, will you allow satan to win the war for souls because you are not willing to leave your comfort zone and tell someone about Jesus??????

Some day each of us will stand in front of our Supreme Commander, Jesus. Oh, to be a veteran of the real cold war and to hear; ‘well done, thy good and faithful servant’.

Rom 14:11-12 “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God.  So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

And most importantly are you a member of God’s army???????????????????

It’s not too late to enlist!!!!

Here is how to enlist!

Jesus said; John 14:6 ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to Father except through Me.’

Romans 10:13 ‘For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.”

Pure truth from God’s word that no adversary can delete. The end of the battle has already been determined.  I’ve read the book, the Bible, and it says!

 JESUS AND HIS ARMY WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope for America….

Hope for America!

There is hope for America if …

II Chronicles 7:14 “And My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

His people will need to start the revival…

How does your life stack up? It is sin to be conformed to this world’s standards and with sin comes separation from the power and blessings of Jesus!!! Being salt and light is not only not easy but it is most often not accepted in our world.

2 Tim 3:12 “Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”

The word sin is not pleasant nor is it supposed to be. It also is not just for those in the past. Sin is as ugly today and as offensive to God today as it was with Adam and Eve. If the world or the majority of our world says that in the interest of humans rights that sin is ok, do you then accept it? Challenging question, especially with the voting season upon us. Listen to what God says;

Mark 8:36-37 “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world,  and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seems right unto a man,  but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Let us join with the Holy Spirit in urging ourselves to…

Rom 12:1,2 “I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, TO PRESENT YOUR BODIES a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is , that which is good and acceptable and

The most immediate need for America is not a balanced budget or having my candidate be in office. There is a much greater need and urgency. As a believer my view and goals in life must be different then the world and country and state and city and neighborhood I live in. I do believe our nation is running to big trouble by the decisions our politicians are making but I believe our God is sovereign in the affairs of men and able to change and direct our times and events to meet His plans.

With that view my focus must be to know and love the Lord our God and be light and salt to a lost and dying world. This morning remember, serving the King of Kings may be the most meaningful thing you do in your life.

Check out the first Church in the book of Acts to see what their focus was.

With that in mind remember to ……

I Tim 2:1,2 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in  authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
