Which Wisdom will you Seek? #4

Me, myself and I, that’s what counts….,

Which Wisdom will you seek!

The wisdom of this world vs. the wisdom of God||

World = Feeling fulfilled in this life is all that matters. Who knows what the after life holds? There is no heaven and no hell. So grab all the gusto while you can. After all, you only go around once!

God’s Truth & Wisdom = The Way to contentment is through Jesus. All will die and judgment comes after physical death.  Each person will be judged for his/her deeds. Eternal life with God or eternal punishments with satan is the choices.

This life is the beginning of eternity for each person!

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Mat 11:28, 29 “Come unto Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I

will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me, for
I am meek and lowly of heart, and you shall find rest unto your souls.”

Heb 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the
judgment.”

There is eternal life after our time on this earth. The question is not if there is eternal life,
but where will we spend it.

Mat 25:31-46 vs. 46 “…And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but
the righteous into eternal life.”

Rev20:15 “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the
lake of fire.”

So, how about those in the places God has put you to be the salt and the light. Your neighborhood, work place, etc.
Is your name and are their names in the Book of Life?

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!”

How to be content….

How to be content!

Our lives are spent attempting to find peace and contentment. Our world tells us that it comes by having money, health, fame, position and on and on. Our world never mentions a relationship with God as the primary way to contentment. Do you ever wonder why that would be?

II Cor 4:3, 4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.”

Are you content and at peace with all things in your life? No, I mean actually content??????????

And of course there is one thing in your life that should never bring peace. It’s called sin and that sin keeps us from real peace and contentment.

I Tim 6:6-10a “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…”

Contentment starts with right priorities!!!!!!!

Mat 6:33 “But seek you first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness…”

Phil 4:7, 8 “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Convicting isn’t it? How do I know? I speak from continuing experiences!!!!!!

Today is a great day to start a change of priorities.

Luke 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

My goodness…..

Most of our world screams to us that in and of ourselves we are good and worthy of all we can get. Is that really true?

Read on and see.

Which Wisdom will you seek? #3

The wisdom of this world vs. the wisdom of God||

World = we are born basically good. Guilt over sin is an illusion left over from oppressive religions and past generations.

Truth changes from generation to generation as mankind continues to evolve. It’s called “Progressive Revelation”.

God’s truth & wisdom = we were born with a sin nature and all are sinners. That explains a lot. Truth from God never changes!

If it changes then it is not from God.  If we are naturally good we would be able to accomplish our own eternal destiny and Jesus death on the cross was in vain.

So here is the truth as recorded!

Mal 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”]

Rom 3:10 “For there are none good, no not one.”

Rom 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.”

I Jn 1:10 “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
Jesus paid the ugly penalty for my sins!

II Cor 5:21 “For He became sin for us, Who knew no sin, that we might be made
the righteousness of God in Him.”

Gal 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Which Wisdom will you choose? #2

The ________ made me do it? Is that really true?

Which Wisdom will you choose?

The world’s wisdom = Dysfunctional people are the result of circumstances and/or past

generations that have passed down defective genetics.  Therefore most people cannot and should not be held accountable.  They are simply a product of their circumstances.

God’s wisdom= The sin nature that we all have is inherited resulting in spiritual and physical    death. Each person is accountable for his or her actions.

Rom 1:20 “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power
and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

Rom 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Rom 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The bad news is that I am a sinner and accountable for all of my actions.

Romans 5:18,19 “Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.”

The good news is, there is a solution.

John 3:16, 17 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.”

Our lives and future generations will be affected by our sins.

Gal 6:7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Ex 34:7b “…visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

While the sin nature is inherited, each of us is accountable for our actions.
God accepts no excuses.

Which Wisdom will you Seek? #1

There is more than one author of wisdom. Or at least to what we think is wisdom. And we all crave wisdom so we can feel the satisfaction of knowing what to do, when to do it, how to do it and oh yes, to feel that I was right.

Do you need wisdom to live a happy life?

Over the next few days let’s look at what God’s word says on obtaining wisdom.

Each of us chooses a source of wisdom either knowingly or unknowingly. Look for which source you are obtaining your wisdom from. Each source of wisdom represents where we place our priorities and where we place our strength, finances and well being. It can be very enlightening and hopefully life changing if necessary. It has been for me.

Worldly wisdom vs. Godly wisdom.

What does each say about Knowledge?

World = Knowledge is obtained by education, experience and imitating the rich and famous of this world.  Knowledge makes me who I am.

God = Knowledge comes from education and experience but must be accompanying with and by God’s truths to be lasting and meaningful. If we do not have God’s wisdom to use it, it is useless in furthering the kingdom of God and useless for our lives.

Knowledge and Wisdom that is valuable for your life can only come from God as He is shaping it in your life.

Psalm 1:1a “Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly…”

Proverbs 8:35, 36 a “Wisdom. For whoever finds Me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord; and he who sins against Me wrongs his soul …”

James 1:5, 6 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”

Proverbs 9:10-12 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you will bear it alone.”

So, how are you using your knowledge this morning? For His glory or your own?

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; But the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.”

Trials, Troubles, Heartaches and VICTORY…..

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

“Trials, Troubles, Heartaches and Victory”

Little Jessica suddenly became America’s child the day she fell down that narrow shaft in a
backyard in Texas. Here was a toddler, wedged nearly upside down, in a shaft far too narrow for a man to navigate, and unable to help herself in any way. It didn’t take long for the press to descend on that little hole in the ground to cover this valiant effort to try to save little Jessica’s life. Pretty soon countless people across the country and around the world were rooting and praying for her life. I was one of them. At first, there appeared to be no way out of this deadly situation, but the rescuers weren’t giving up. They began to build a wider shaft parallel to the one Jessica was trapped in. She’d been in there for nearly three days when a rescuer finally went down that new shaft and through the tunnel they had dug to Jessica. Minutes later – a scene many of us will never forget. In the glare of the press’s massive lights, a battered but breathing little girl emerged from that hole with her arms tightly around her rescuer.

Many times you and I fall into a similar spiritual situation that we see little Jessica in. We
are trapped in a spot, in a situation where there does not seem to be any way out. We cannot plan our way out, think our way out, talk our way out or work our way out. Fear can set in or worse yet complacency. Can you recognize those areas of your life when that happens? Or may it even be happening right now? If not, it will sooner or later. At that moment we are facing a situation that is beyond our power to fix or to figure out.

Our usual delivery systems in our life, the people or sources which would usually come
through for us just aren’t doing it. Not this time. And worse yet maybe we have fallen into the trap so often that complacency has set in. We have given up trying to doing it God’s way. Or maybe we even have ourselves convinced that God is not right there with us at every moment and situation in our lives. We feel like there is no way to turn this around. We are at the bottom of the shaft, beyond the reach of any conventional help.

God offers us this comfort in times of trials or troubles;

Matthew 11:28-29 “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.”

The snare that entangles us can come from a multitude of directions. One is from satan as he seeks to trip us up. As believers, he can no longer have our souls but he can keep us from serving Jesus.

Ephes. 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Another is from our flesh when we do not flee youthful lusts as II Tim 2:22 reminds us to do. We
dabble in them and as James 1 notes that dabbling leads to sin. And Genesis 3 and Romans 6:23
reminds us of the penalty for those sins is spiritual and physical death. If that sin goes unconfessed then complacency and depression set in. And yes, while believers cannot lose their salvation sin can wreck their testimony, their happiness and even affect their family and generations to come. We lie to ourselves when we think we are only affecting ourselves or that God does not see the sin (Psalm 37).

Another are trials sent from God (James 1:2, 3) to help develop us into the servants He desires
and hopefully we desire to be. There can be no lasting peace and joy outside of serving Jesus and
allowing those trials to mold us. Acceptance offers the peace of God that passes worldly understanding.

Philip. 4:7 “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Another is the heartache other people bring into our lives. Simply because they may view wrongly the reason for their difficult moments, they may be conformed to the world, their lack of acceptance of trials, their unsaved condition, their lack of accepting God’s trials to mold them; they can make our lives miserable.

Fortunately, God our heavenly Father enters the situation when snares entangle us. And yes,
there is a Way out. Psalm 25:15 “My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.” If you are facing something for which there seems to be no conceivable solution, then do not give up and crawl into yourself. If you have placed your faith in Jesus and are one of His children then all things do work together in our lives for good and most importantly for His names sakes (Rom 8:28). As a believer the only thing in our life that He cannot be the Author of is sin.

Nobody sees God bigger than those who need Him desperately. That is if they seek Him.
As King David said in this psalm, “Only He” can release you. Isn’t that great? God wants you to believe Him for a solution that will have no human fingerprints on it, only His. It must be Him and Him alone.

  1. W. Tozer said, “The child of God should always be found living in expectation of the divine.”
And he was right on track. In all things God says to lay our requests before Him and seek His wisdom (Psalm 1:1,2, Mat 6:33, James 1:5,6) If you are at one of those Red Sea moments then the question is, where will you turn?

If God chooses to use humans to deliver His resources to your life, remember it doesn’t come
from them. They are but a tool that God uses to direct us.

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.”
